One of four beautifully converted former outbuildings of the 18th century farmstead “La Domaine du Puech” overlooking the valley of the Auze river, which flows into the Lot in the nearby village of St Projet.

Sympathetically renovated to bring together the traditional features of the 18th century and the style of the 21st, the local schist stone and the ancient chestnut timbers provide a dramatic backdrop to the comfortable modern fittings.

La Soue can sleep 4 people. A large, sunny, open plan living area with exposed stone walls and 18th century beams, it has a fully fitted kitchen to one side with electric oven and hob, fridge freezer, microwave and dishwasher, kettle, filter coffee maker and toaster.

There is a polished wooden dining table and chairs, a sofa, UK TV, a DVD player and electric heating throughout.

Also at ground floor level is the master bedroom with a king size bed and a bathroom with an 'italian style' walk in shower. The ground floor of La Soue is ideal for people with reduced mobility.

The upper mezzanine area is accessed via an exterior stone staircase and has twin single beds. It overlooks the main room below and has tall glass safety panels, so it makes a great room for children.

The gite opens out onto a terrace overlooking the Don Gorges leading to a large very private lawned garden in which numerous walnut trees provide dappled shade. Equipped with garden furniture, barbecue and sunloungers it makes a calm and tranquil haven

The 8 x 4 metre salt water pool surrounded by paving is in a secluded spot overlooking the valley views and is available for all the gite guests to enjoy whenever they wish. Sun loungers are available for relaxing.

A fully equipped laundry room with two washing machines and a tumble dryer provides a shared facility for washing and drying. All bed linen and towels are provided and cleaning is included.

Ample private parking is available on the site and La Soue has free WiFi access in the grounds.

The Midi-Pyrenees region

The Cantal region descends from the breathtaking volcanic Mountains in the north down through gorges and river valleys. Steeped in historical interest it has an abundance of ancient sites, monuments, castles, towns and villages. It is an unspoilt region where visitors can enjoy rural life with clean air and glorious countryside yet still find plenty of activities to interest everyone of any age. The local people are friendly and take great pride in their region's heritage and are always keen to introduce visitors to their treasures whether food, drink, their way of life or the countryside.

Most of our properties are located around the medieval village of Entraygues sur Truyère nestling in the heart of the picturesque Vallée du Lot on the border of the Cantal and Aveyron. Entraygues is in the north of the department (or county) known as the Aveyron, which is one of eight in the Midi-Pyrenees. It is here where the river Truyère tumbles out of the Auvergne and joins the river Lot.

Conques

The area is geographically extreme and very beautiful with an enormous amount of views to take your breath away! The climate here can also be extreme, but being sheletered sheltered by the northern and easterly aspects of the Auvergne and Aubrac mountains, part of the Central massif, we enjoy a Mediterranean style climate with cold crisp snowy winters, stunning Springs, long hot summers (although due to the altitude night times are thankfully cool) and long spectaular warm autumns with day after day of blue skies.

Whether you like walking, driving around to explore medieval villages, more sternous activity such as canoeing or horse riding, sampling the delights of the regional cuisine there is something for everyone. All our houses have information on what to do.

With the nearest Auto route 60 miles away and the nearest railway line 30 miles little has changed over the years and the Vallée du Lot remains a haven of peace and tranquillity.
