The County Galway / County Clare / County Galway region
Galway City is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ireland. Visitors and students contribute a lot to the life of the City and are welcomed by the Galwegians for doing so. Galway and its surroundings are famous for many festivals from the Film festival (end June), 'Galway Arts Festival' (mid-July), 'Galway Races' (end July) culminating in the famous 'Galway and Clarinbridge Oster Festival' (in September).
'The Galway Advertiser' is published every Thursday and it is worth checking the internet or picking up a copy (available in any newsagent's, if you are quick).
Tourist attractions: The house is ideally situated for trips to the wonderful scenic area of Connemara and Co. Clare. Connemara is a superb fishing and golfing area. Oughterard Golf Club (18 hole Parkland) is only ten minutes away. You may also go on beautiful walks (Connemara Way) and there is wildlife for the keen photographer. Visit Co. Clare e.g. the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren with its spectacular views and the Aran Islands by boat from Rossavael (45 minutes drive from the house).
The Connemara / Oughterard area
Carrowmoreknock is a small village in Connemara near Galway with a Church, a primary school, a post office and most importantly for the locals a Pub. Our villa on the waterfront with a panoramic view over lake Corrib and its own woods is ideally situated for trips to wonderful scenic areas in the region. The seashore is not far away. To Galway City, with its large choice of shopping centres, restaurants, pubs and entertainment, including traditional Irish music and song, it is only a 25 minutes drive. Moycullen and Oughterard, both about 10 km away, also offer shopping facilities, restaurants and pubs.

This is our fourth stay at Anam Samh so you'll probably guess how much we like this heavenly place. Whatever the weather (we have been lucky most of the time) this house is perfect and caters for more or less any type of holiday – fishing, touring, families with children, older people etc. Large and very adaptable , so well equipped, and the views over Lough Corrib – wow! Galway with all its vibrancy is less than 10 miles away and the breathtaking scenery of Connemara is on the doorstep. Try not to miss Roundstone and Lennane, Killary and the National Park or go south an hour into Co Clare. The splendid Zetland House Hotel at Cashel is less than an hour away and is worth a visit. Or just walk the countryside around Anam Samh, swim in the lake or try to catch your supper of trout. Bliss! |

We have just returned from staying in this stunning property, it is even better than it looks on the website! Extremely relaxing, and the window in the lounge overlooking the Lough can not be beaten, especially if you enjoy curling up and reading. Excellent location, and plenty of very nice restaurants in close proximity, would highly recommend The Pullman Restaurant at Glenlo Abbey Hotel (food is good, but the experience is excellent), The house has absolutely everything you could want in it, the kitchen is extremely well equipped with all the pots, pans, spices, oils etc that you would need. |

The house is off the beaten track overlooking beautiful Lough Corrib. The map made it easy to find and we were met by a caretaker who was contacted by phone half an hour before we arrived. The house is modern and well equipped although during our stay the TV wasn't working properly but the owner is attending to that with a broadband/TV package . There could be more bath towels. Refuse bins are a problem, there were none! A wonderful place to stay........ we'll be back Response: Thank you for your feed back. We are constantly trying to improve the amenities of our holiday home: - Broadband Internet and Satelite TV will be installed in July 2012. - A new system of weeleybin waste refusal is in place already. - Please instuct the caretaker at arrival, if you need more towels, specially if you stay more than one week.
