This is a really lovely comfortable house with plenty of atmosphere as a good deal of social history attached. If you are looking for complete relaxation in a genuine Irish house then you will find it here. These types of houses are now relatively rare in Ireland as many of these older properties were sadly knocked down to make way for modern properties, but we loved this house the moment we saw it and restored it to its former glory while keeping the original integrity and beauty of the house.

Each bedroom has it's own ensuite bathroom, and there is a jack and jill bathroom for two bedrooms upstairs. We were proud to be featured in the Irish Times as one of the best places to stay in Ireland for large groups and we have a lot of families staying with us, as well as groups of friends as the house sleeps up to 10 people. There is a wood burning stove in the lounge downstairs and three separate lounge areas for relaxing and eating. Children love this house and they have the freedom of safely playing around the house in the garden and grounds. If you are looking for your dream of how Ireland should be, in a traditional old house full of history, but with all modern comforts, then this is the holiday home for you and your family or friends. The people in Clonbur and throughout Connemara exceed their reputation of being friendly and welcoming, and the area is extremely safe. We look forward to welcoming you to Gortnarup House.

There is a lovely large garden with plenty of plants and flowers with great views of the countryside. We have outdoor dining facilities i.e. table and chairs for al fresco eating. Many animals overlook the land ie sheep and cows, and in the lanes near the house there are horses and ponies, and in the spring there are lambs which you can see from the garden.
