Highlights of the county include walking or cycling in Connemara National Park including the Sky Road west of Clifden, visiting the Aran Islands (famous for folklore and knitwear) and lets not forget the terrific bustling Galway City itself with pubs, music and great cultural atmosphere. County Galway is likely to be one of the highlights of any trip to Ireland. It's an ideal destination for those in search of the outdoors; sea, lake and river fishing, walking and cycling and of course golfing are all popular activities in the county
The Connemara / Cashel, Co. Galway area
The nearest beaches are the famous dogs bay in Roundstone which is seven miles away where you will also find some interesting shops, restaurants and pubs including O’Dowd’s with its now world famous seafood chowder.
There is great fishing in the area with Lough Mask and Lough Corrib close by, while Connemara National Park, home to the famous Connemara Pony and Kylemore Abbey are both within easy reach, providing great days out for all the family.
