The Duddon Valley region

The Lake District is without doubt one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. It offers spectacular scenery, peace and quiet, and an abundance of activities. It makes an ideal holiday destination for families, groups of friends, or those seeking a romantic sojourn.

Coniston

Coniston is located right in the heart of the stunning National Park. A small town set on the edge of the lake it makes a fantastic base from which to explore the various corners of the Lake District. Locally there are plenty of activities such as walking, hiking, horse riding, cycling, boating, sailing to name but a few. For those who are seeking some history and culture a short journey will take you to Brantwood, the former home of the author John Ruskin, or Dove Cottage, once the residence of Beatrix Potter. Coniston village has a good selection of shops, coffee shops, pubs serving food and other amenities. Nearby villages and towns to explore include Grasmere, Hawkshead, Windermere, Ambleside and Keswick.

"Beautiful cottage"

Cottage was much bigger than expected. Has everything we could need. Bottle of wine, milk, and logs for the fire were awaiting us which was a nice treat. The cottage itself was beautiful and its location was ideal for walking into town to shop, or eat. Also close to several walking trails. Driveway is a tight fit and having to strip all of the beds before we left was a bit over the top. Overall despite this the cottage was a wonderful weekend retreat.

Sorry you felt that stripping the beds was a bit much but we do not know otherwise which beds have been used and "environmentally" do not want to have to do unnecessary washing.
Very pleased that apart from that you enjoyed your visit

"Cosy cottage in great location"

Lovely old cottage close to the lake and village centre.
No TV which was disappointing for the children after a long walk.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are sorry that you were disappointed to find that there was no television but we do only advertise the cottage as having a DVD player.
