The Costa de la Luz region
This wild and untamed corner of Spain is yet to be discovered by the tourist hoards and maintains a sense of mystery and enchantment for those who visit it. Sierra mountain ranges look down over valleys of vineyards and out to the rugged "coast of light" with its miles of deserted beaches and the silhouette of Africa on the horizon.
This is a region which manages to encapsulate all that is Andalucia, whilst offering its own unique and enticing identity. The province is home to the oldest city in Europe, mother to the origins of flamenco and birthplace of the world famous sherry wine. It is also a mecca for watersports and horse riding and a cultural gem dotted with ancient white villages.
The region is blessed with over 300 days of sun. So visitors can enjoy lazing on one of the stunning beaches along the coast. Or they can enjoy a wealth of activities: Surfing, kitesurfing, horse riding, gold, wine, flamenco gastronomy, hiking, biking and much more!
The Conil de la Frontera area
Conil is renowned above all for its stunning beaches. This white fishing village is situated right on the coast. Enjoy the silken white sand, the wild stretches of rugged coastline and the hidden coves.
The town itself, apart from offering the wealth of activities mentioned above, is renowned for its fabulous tapas. Every fourth building appears to be a tapas bar or restaurant! Try the local specialities such as baby prawn fritters, tuna brochette or shark butties! After dinner, visitors can enjoy a glass of wine or an authentic cocktail in a large selection of bars, or hit the busier streets and clubs into the small hours of the morning.
You can feel the quality of life in this town. People spend the majority of their time outside. Every meal, from breakfast to dinner, is a social event. Nearly all the locals enjoy hobbies such as cast fishing, paddle tennis, riding, or if they're a bit past participating in those strenuous activities, you'll find them sitting on a bench with friends, having a chat in the square

We spend one week in early September in this apartment and it is truly a treasure. Only few minutes to the really gorgeous beach, great to walk, good swimming with easy access for all age, smooth sand all along, WOW! - and only few minutes into the city of Conil, what a lively and great place this is for having all kinds of dinner, ice cream or snacks. All in all it was a visit in paradise for us. Internet access would have been very welcome.

Although accurate, the pictures listed don't truly reflect how truly comfortable, well appointed, and spacious this 2 Br apartment in fabulous Conil de la Frontera truly is. One of my dearest friends and I spent 9 fabulous days in Conil this past August. The Atalaya apartment is walking distance to the thick of things in town but sufficiently removed to ensure a quiet stay. It's also a mere 5 minutes away on foot to the wonderful, impossibly wide, golden sand Conil beaches. The apartment is fully equipped with everything anyone could possibly need, including a washing machine, itself a very nice convenience. We mostly ate out (the chiringito's on the beach are very good and the tapas at Bar Nico, off the main Carretera Road, are excellent), but I'm sure that if we had really wanted to cook and eat in, there wouldn't have been a utensil the kitchen didn't have. This apartment felt more like staying in a friend's home rather than just a summer rental. The only drawback I could point out is that the water pressure in the shower is not very strong. This, however, is a very minor inconvenience that most likely affects the town itself and not a criticism of the apartment itself. Wi-fi would be a welcome plus. I would not only recommend this apartment to friends and family but plan to definitely return.
