"Pretty cottage in good location"

Renting this cottage meant that we did not miss our friends birthday celebrations at the Marco Pierre Whites restaurant in the Doubletree Hilton hotel. We were unable to leave our two dogs with our usual minder and we were very lucky to find this cottage a 5 minute drive away or a 15 minute walk who were happy to accept the dogs. It was not an easy cottage to find especially the failing light as there is no sign to let you know where to turn in and a sign at the turnoff of Wood Hill Road would of helped us and the taxi drivers find it. The Friday we arrived the weather had turned very cold with snow due in many parts of the country, the cottage was cold, dark and felt unwelcoming as a result. A little heat and some side lights lit would of made all the difference to our arrival here. However once we put the heating on it warmed up and thankfully we were in time to catch the garden centre before it closed so we could buy more logs AND MATCHES (not everyone smokes) for the wood burner as what was included only filled a waste paper basket! There was a welcome basket of goodies which we did not expect and was very welcome. The kitchen was beautifully appointed and we were told by the owner that the dogs must stay within its confines and a gate between the lounge and kitchen makes this easier to comply with. Had we of been staying for more than two nights this would not have suited us as our dogs are our family and anyone interested in this cottage staying for more than a few days should be aware of this as its not on the agents information site, neither is the fact that the cottage is on the flight path in and out of Bristol airport. The wood burner was a lovely addition and made the cottage feel very cosy and very warm. The lounge was cosy with a fab TV with great reception. The double bed (4ft 6) was too small and uncomfortable for us and our second night was spent in the twin bedded room which was comfortable giving us a much better nights sleep. We could not let our dogs into the garden because the back garden blended into the front drive area and our dogs could not be trusted not to limbo under the front main gate. Two light bulbs in the kitchen were not working on arrival and there were no batteries in the much needed torch. Overall although this cottage was not perfect for us it is a lovely pretty cottage in a very pretty spot off the main road and bar the niggles we had I can highly recommend Mendip View.

Thank you for your comments. We are delighted you have enjoyed your holiday and hope you had a fantastic time for your friend's birthday. We have certainly taken note of how you felt the property could have been more welcoming; please feel assured that all of your comments will be addressed.
Kind regards,
