Home description

This traditional thatched cottage, situated on the edge of the tiny village of Cross, is just two miles from Cong in County Mayo. Well-decorated throughout, this attractive, detached cottage combines original character with contemporary styling to feature three bedrooms sleeping up to six people and a welcoming sitting room with exposed beams and a wood-burning stove. There is also a fully equipped, modern kitchen with dining area, making this a great holiday home for a family or a group of friends.

The North West Ireland / County Mayo region

The West of Ireland conjures up many images; thatched, whitewashed cottages, a flock of sheep on a narrow road, an emerald green field with a stone wall, or the Atlantic waves crashing into towering cliffs and rocky shores. But however charming the image, nothing equals the feeling of seeing the sights with your own eyes, breathing the clean, fresh air and listening to the peaceful sounds of a summer day in the West.


Cong Village area

Known as the gateway to Connemara, the picturesque village of Cong is situated between the shores of Lough Corrib and Lough Mask in County Mayo. Famous as the backdrop for 'The Quiet Man', the village offers a number of special tours to commemorate the film. Also in the region are the dramatic ruins of Cong Abbey, founded in the 12th Century by Turlogh O'Connor - King of Connaught and the High King of Ireland. Other historic sites of interest include Ashford Castle, which is often described as the most beautiful in Ireland. This wonderful building offers visitors fine dining opportunities, pristine period décor and a superb, 18-hole golf course. Also within easy driving distance is the city of Galway, a pretty town, known for its maze of alleyways and colourful nightlife.

Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the 'Winter' period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental.

Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the 'Low' and 'Mid' periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday.

'Last Minute Breaks' (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the 'LOW', 'MID', 'HIGH', 'PEAK', 'XMAS' and 'NEW YEAR' periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.
