The house is large, private and welcoming, with great outdoor facilities for alfresco dining, and swimming in the large pool (which can be covered for safety), playing football on the large lawn area with swings for the kids,and your very own vegetable garden. The gardens are well maintained and there is plenty of space to enjoy.
The view of the River Vienne and the 14th century Chateau at Ste Germaine are truly like a picture postcard. They make the perfect backdrop for a wonderful glass of the local wine on the terrace in the sunshine. All amenities are at hand and the house is well situated for trips out to enjoy the local countryside, tourist attractions and the large towns of Poitiers, Limoges and Angouleme for shopping.

The swimming pool has a perspex removable cover which keeps the water warm and keep the pool safe for children. It can be used at night as the pool has lights and it is great to swim under the cover also.
There is a large patio area area the pool for dining and partying daytime or night time.

My Neighbours were the previous owners and are available for help or advice. They will not disturb you unless requested. They keep the pool clean and prepare the house for your welcome.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Charente region
The region is warm and sunny, with lush green countryside and an abundance of lakes and rivers. There are many fields of sunflowers and the scenery is spectacular. Local produce is easy to find and the region is famous for its Pineau, wine, beef and melons and much more.
There are many places of interest which are not expensive or commercialised. There are Chateaus to visit, rivers and lakes to fish and swim in and many villages with there own local sunbathing, swimming, canoeing spots and markets for local produce.
The Confolens area
Confolens is a beautiful town on the river Vienne, which is ideal for fishing , canoeing and using pedalos.
There are shops,supermarkets, markets for local produce and all amenities, including restaurants, bars and cafes.
The festival is famous for bringing dancers from all over the world to perform in arenas and in the streets, mid August.There are local animal parks,a lido, archery, horseriding, a velo rail,aquarium at Limoges,a fun park with rides and water slides at Limoges and the fantastic Futuroscope at Poitiers. There are golf courses at Limoges and a Roman Baths which has been preserved in fantastic condition. The village of Oradour-sur-Glane is nearby.Here the Nazis massacred a village and it has been left as it was when they left.
The town is excellently situated to visit several areas, e.g. Dordorgne, Angouleme, Limoges, Poitiers, La Rochelle,Cognac.

It is possible to get cheap flights to Limoges via Ryanair or Bordeaux via BMIbaby and collect a car at the airport.
Limoges is the nearest airport and the route to the house is well signed and without lots of traffic.
Alternatively if you prefer to drive through France the route from Caen is straightforward and takes around 5 hours, with beautiful scenery all the way.

we holidayed in this beautiful part of France in August 1010, when we arrived at the house we were blown away with the property and the swimming pool is amazing. The house is very spacious and has everything you could possibly want in a holiday home, the pool is large and the children and ourselves just loved spending many a relaxing day sunbathing and cooling down around it. The view overlooking the castle and river is out of this world especially when all lite up at night. The village of Confolens as everything you could need and my husband especially liked the 5 min walk to the local tabac in the evening. Unfortunately we tried to book our 2011 holiday here but the house was already booked, but luckily we have booked for 2012. would highly reccommend this wonderful home for anyone wanting a good holiday. many thanks Tracey for creating some wonderful memories for us and heres to creating more in 2012 The Gray Family |
