There is a sunny walled garden with some lovely flower beds and trees for hanging the hammocks across. It has a gate to a small private stretch of river bank and another out to the lane. A wisteria and vine covered pergola is the perfect spot for long, lazy lunches in the shade. The fenced off pool area is south facing so gets the sun for the whole day. There is a large decked area by the pool for sunbathing and a stone breakfast terrace surrounded by shrubs.
The other prairie garden is also south facing so gets the sun all day long. Situated on a hill across the lane, it has has decked area with chairs at the top, which provides great views across the valley. There is no better place to sit with a glass of wine or cold beer and enjoy the surrounding countryside. We have also put a couple of grazing sheep in there, which are semi-domesticated, great to watch and require no up keep.
There is a garage, a covered log store and area for hanging washing and a fresh water spring.
The local area has some of the best walks you can imagine. If you're bringing a dog they will love it but you can also borrow the neighbour's dog, Mousse, who will show you the way. Beautiful woods on the way up to the local shop selling fresh bread, or wandering around whilst your Coq Au Vin cooks on the wood burning stove.

The Poitou-Charentes region
Tennis, swimming, and boat hire on the slow-running La Vienne are available in the local town of Confolens. Golf is available in St Junien and horse riding is ten minutes away down a country lane. The wider area is rich in beautiful countryside, well-mapped walks, wildlife and traditional French architecture.
Local villages such as Leterps, Montrollet, Esse, and Mortemart provide not only beautiful medieval architecture and churches, but also shopping and simple restaurants with fabulous food at low prices. The whole area is ideal for walking/cycling. It also offers popular tourist attractions such as Futuroscope at Poitiers; La Vallee des Singes; L’ile aux Serpents and Le Chateau des Aigles – all between 30-50 minutes' drive.
Moulin de Marousse is situated approximately 1km South of St Christophe (one shop/cafe selling all the essentials including bread and croissant) and is a 15-20 minutes drive from both the lovely, bustling town of St Junien with its shops and supermarkets and medieval Confolens. Exit the garden gate and cross the bridge and you can walk for hours through the woods(neighbour's golden retriever available on request!)
Thirty minutes to the East lies the moving exhibition centre and martyr town, Oradour-sur-Glane, famously preserved exactly as it was the day the entire town and all it's inhabitants were destroyed by the Nazis in the Second World War.

"A peaceful and authentically French experience"
We were first attracted to the Moulin by the photos, and we were not disappointed. What you see is what you get. It is a magic property, in a beautiful, if unspectacular, part of rural France.
We took our young spaniel and found loads of long walks, both from Moulin and within a 10-minute drive.
We were 7, from 4 to 65, and there was ample space and provision for us all, from the pool, where the youngest learned to swim a width, to the hammocks, where granny read, after lunch under the vine. The feeling was very much of a family home, rather than a standard holiday let; for us that was a real plus.
Don't expect entertainment. Moulin is a place for escape and refreshment.

Aug 12 was our fifth visit to Moulin de Marousse and as expected we had a really great time. Peaceful surroundings and a large house means we do not get in each others space. Moulin has
everything for the ideal family holiday and we are certainly looking forward to our next visit in 2013. Highly recommended.
