House | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 3
Let the pressure of life fade into memory as you gently settle in the heart of Gascony. Situated near Lectoure, the Guest house Pujol is part of an ensemble of beautiful homes, all located within a 12th century stronghold.
Pujol is a delightful house composed of 2 bedrooms (1 double & 1 single), two bathrooms, a sitting room with fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen and a private garden.
The house is decorated with genuine antique furniture and contemporary artwork, blending gracefully past and future.
The managers, on site - 1 British & 1 French - will gladly recommend the best restaurants, local attractions including wine tastings ! Wi-Fi and numerous games (croquet, badminton etc) available at village reception.
Within the stronghold
The village has been through a thorough renovation process lasting over 25 years. Only traditional building materials have been employed in accordance with the principles of the Charter of Venice. In 2001 the Castelnau was granted the highly acclaimed International Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Award (RICS), prize handed by HRH, the Prince of Wales. The Castelnau now has 16 houses (of which 12 are dedicated to our guests) with charming individual gardens, a church and a vast 17th century vaulted hall which used to be part of a monumental stable block.
The honeyed limestone walls adorned with vines and nestling fruit trees follow paths to brightly painted doors which open to houses elegantly furnished with Gascon antiques and fabrics, both old and contemporary art and clean-lined modern bathrooms. All kitchens are fully equipped but telephones and televisions are nowhere to be seen. The beauty of the
Castelnau is to provide the perfect setting for each and everyone to enjoy peaceful tranquillity far away from noise and pollution.
Set amongst limestone walls, but not enclosed, there is no through road in the village so guests are able to walk the cobbled streets undisturbed. The houses each have their own private gardens with furniture and BBQ equipment.
A private chef is available on site providing an opportunity to discover local delights and even cooking courses
(reservation only, please ask for details).
Beneath the village walls, the outdoor pool is surrounded by wooden decking and although not fenced it has a regulation safety cover. Just outside the entrance to the property there is also a tennis court. Parking is available just outside the walls.
