LA ISLA

Opened in the summer of 2010 La Isla is a development set on its very own island within the Gran Lago - the largest lake on the Condado de Alhama resort.

La Isla is a gated community with its own private security access point over the bridge joining the island to the rest of the resort which allows residents to enjoy its private feel.

The island has an outdoor sports area, a childrens playground & 2 infinity pools directly overlooking the lake creating a beautifully peaceful environment to relax and get away from it all. Enjoy a lakeside stroll around the island or take a short walk over the bridge to the lovely Al Kasar complex which has a supermarket, internet cafe, bars, restaurants, ice cream parlour & live entertainment during the summer. The signature Jack Niklaus golf course is located on site with its own clubhouse.

For the more active there are tennis / paddle tennis courts (with sports cafe), basketball courts, squash courts & football pitches available as well as bike hire & aqua-aerobics on site.

The Murcia region

Murcia city - Things to do

The cathedral of Santa María, which was begun in the 14th century, is a mixed bag of Renaissance and Baroque architecture and took 300 years to complete but is a must-see building. The Glorieta, next to the Segura River, is traditionally the centre of the town. This a pleasant landscaped square, built in the 18th century. Pedestrian areas cover most of the old town, centred around Calle Platería and Calle de la Trapería. The Casino, a social club opened in 1847, has a sumptuous interior that includes a Moorish-style patio.

As befits a thriving regional capital with a population of 420,000, Murcia has more entertainment possibilities than anyone could need. It's a regular stopping-off point for top live acts – national and international – on tour in Spain and has a thriving club scene. There are two very good football teams (with a rivalry to match) and for all those retail needs, the shopping is as good as any in south-east Spain and includes an outlet of the country's flagship department store chain, El Corte Inglés.

Murcia is also home to the renowned Science and Water Museum.

Condado de Alhama

There is a weekly market on site during the summer where you can buy anything from local produced fruit and veg to leather goods, electronic products, clothes etc.

There is a twice weekly market at nearby Alhama de Murcia which is well worth a visit Alhama de Murcia as it also has an impressive medieval castle.

Take a trip to Murcia's own Zoo with built in water park. Just 30 mins drive from Condado, it cost us 50 euros for a family of 4 and the best thing is you can go the next day for free, so if you've had too much fun for one day you can go home and return the next day at no extra cost.

Close by is the beautiful Sierra Espuna National Park, where you can enjoy a walking or hiking excursion or just enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings. Some of the places to stop during a day out in the Sierra Espuna Regional Park :

- Totana: inland town which is well known for the production of ceramics and pottery.

- Sanctuary of Santa Eulalia: 16th century monastery now a hotel and restaurant with an amazing church.

- Viewpoint del Cristo: stunning 360 degrees views.

- Aledo: tranquil village dominated by its 11th century tower.

- Ice Storage Huts: 16th century sunken huts for storing snow and ice during the summer.

- Picnic & Barbecue Area del Hilo: great place to enjoy your lunch, sometimes visited by wild bore!

- Centre: permanent exhibition about the flora and fauna of the park as well as some information on walking routes.

Climate?

The region enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate. The area averages nearly 3,000 hours of sunshine each year and the average temperature easily exceeds 20 degrees.

In 1986 the World Health Organisation recommended the climate of the area as one of the most equitable in the world - neither too hot in the summer nor too cold in the winter. On average it can boast 325 sunny days each year making it an ideal all year round destination.
