The Sardinia region
Santa Teresa Gallura could be considered at first sight a young village as its foundation goes back to the first years of XIX century, in obedience to King Vittorio Emanuele I° wishes; nevertheless we can't forget that farthest point of northern Sardinia was inhabited by very ancient people since prehistory.
The first settlement in this area dates back to the nuragic period (4000 B.C). A trace of those can be seen nearby some archaeological sites, very close to the build up area.
Sardinia has a very warm climate. Very low rainfall during the summer months and a consistant temperature from May through to September.
- Take a guided boat trip around the islands of Maddalena including lunch to experience the crystal clear waters and beautiful beaches. Enquire on booking.
- Explore the many unusual rock formations made from granite around the Gallura region.
- Head inland to visit Tempio, an Historic town and find some of the vineyards on the way, to taste the excellent wines produced in this area.

Amazing location so close to the beaches. 8 of us stayed here very comfortably. We loved the large verandah and wild boar outside the garden and the star gazing from the upper terrace. Santa Theresa is definitely worth a visit. A lovely, peaceful place for a holiday.

"Idyllic spot, well equipped villa, gorgeous terraces and garden, private coves 5mins walk - what more could you want?"
We loved this villa. Three good friends, we got a bedroom each and room to spare. The Villa is really well equipped (though do stop off on the way there to get self-catering essentials like loo roll, soap, water, wine etc!) . Hosts really helpful before and after by e-mail. Spent most evenings on the roof terrace with its stunning views. The coast 5 mins walk from the garden is a line of little coves and beaches, so out of high season you get one all to yourself - first thing we did was strip off and jump in!!! Water clear as glass. This is def the place if you want some peace and quiet rather than parties out every night. Garden full of bouganvillia and hibiscus, acacia, lemon tree, birds singing etc. The nearest place to go is the 5 star hotel down the road, lovely for a posh Aperol Spritzer in the evenings. And you can hire kayaks quite cheaply from their beach. But no shops unless you drive, so car essential. Some great little restaurants 10 mins down the road in Porto Pozzo though. Loved Santa Teresa, and Palau was fun (but awful for driving/parking - watch out for bad road signage re one-way streets and parking zones - oops!!). Driving can be a bit hairy cos of the Italians love of playing chicken on blind bends, but as long as you're careful and don't let yourself be bullied, it was fine, and there is stunning scenery all around. Also recommend outings to Porto Raphael, Porto Pollo (lots of different kinds of beaches), and the utterly fabulous Agroturismo Saltara (book first) for a very posh, delicious and enormous lunch or dinner for around 35 euros incl wine - we got a swim in their lovely pool too!

"Cracking Villa lovely location"
We had a fantastic week staying at the Villa Carina. Our first trip to Sardiia. Initially we were looking for somewhere with a pool but eventually decided budget didn't stretch to give us that plus accomodation we liked the look of and given proximity to the beach it would not matter. Was an excellent call, we had a brilliant week. For a family of 4 (2 girls aged 6 and 3) the villa was perfect. Clean, well kept, well equiped, nice quiet location with views through the trees to the med and archipelago. Playing late evening games with the girls on the roof terrace as the sun set was a highlight. Local beach was OK for a quick dip in the sea but the owner's recomendations of their favourite beaches a short drive away were brilliant as was recomendations of restaurants. Communication both before and after the trip from the owner was brilliant. Ferry trip and day spent driving round Maddalena Island was a highlight. Didn't think beaches came much better than those local to the villa untill we discovered those dotted around the island.

"Perfectly situated villa, a few minutes from a quiet beach and shallow, blue sea."
My wife and I, together with our daughter, her husband and two-year old stayed at Villa Carina for a week and wished we could have stayed for a month! The villa is well equipped and comfortable. The garden is lovely and the view, though the trees to the sea, is one of the best we have experienced worldwide. There is a very pleasant short walk, through the woodland, to a small, sandy that not many people know about. The sea is shallow and ideal for small children. We are planning to return next year.

"A very comfortable and convenient vacation getaway with everything you need for a relaxing stay."
The villa is located at the end of a street and is surround by open space with views to the sea. Easy to find with GPS or by following the owner's instructions. Ideally located between Palau and Santa Teresa within easy reach of the Costa S'merelda. A short walk to the sea and minutes to great beaches. A four star hotel is just down the hill, newly rennovated with a good restaurant and bar. Porto Pozzo a small village is 10 minutes away with good restaurants and markets. The villa itself while not luxurious is very comfortable for four people a bit crowded for six or seven as they have to sleep in the living room on fold out beds. The owner plans to build a third bedroom for next year. A wonderful terrace where we ate breakfast and a few dinners. The BBQ made it easy to grill fish for dinner which we picked up at local fishmongers. A washing machine and the ability to dry your clothes quickly means you don't have to pack as many clothes. The owner is friendly and very attentive to all your needs. We love this part of Sardinia and plan to return again next year.

"A Paradise on Sardinia"
Villa Carina was an incredibly nice surprise to us. We stayed here with 6 adults (3 couples) and 2 slept in the living room, which was perfectly doable. The villa is part of a small secluded area with a hotel and 3 streets of private villas. The villa is at the end of a road and you hardly see any neighbours (although it still feels safe that there are neighbours nearby). There is a beautiful garden with many beautiful plants and trees and you can hear the birds sing all day long. There is a large sunroof in front of the house with a nice large table and chairs, from where you can enjoy the shade and the splendid views of the sea and the Maddalena Archipel. There is also a terrace on the roof where you can enjoy the sun and views. The kitchen is well supplied with pots and pans and everything you need to cook and eat. The two bedrooms are large and one has a private bathroom. Both bedrooms and the large living room had a working air-conditioning. Very near to the villa are some small beaches (well within walking distance) where you can enjoy the incredibly clean and blue water of the sea in almost complete privacy. It’s nice to take a quick dive whenever you feel like it. If you follow the road you come to a larger beach (though still small and quiet) where you can eat a snack or ice cream or just drink something. We did our shopping in one of the supermarkets from Santa Teresa Gallura, where we also booked and took a daytrip to visit the stunning Maddalena Archipel. Villa Carina and Conca Verde offer all the beauty of North- East Sardinia without mass tourism and crowds. The owner of the villa was very helpful and nice during our email conversations. All in all, the villa is a real paradise and we will hopefully return here one day.

"Charm and relax!"
This charming villa with picturesque surroundings made our stay in Sardegna especially memorable! Private garden, wine on the terrace, white yachts at the inlet…. Very relaxing atmosphere! Communication with Mark was easy and responsive, directions and advices - very helpful! But we must agree with the advice to stop at a supermarket to buy all supplies - toilet rolls, washing-up liquid etc. None of it was provided, besides we were the first visitors this season, so nothing was left from previous guests. One week was not enough, and we will come back for sure!

"A real gem and a superb base to explore this wonderful area."
We had an absolutely wonderful time in Sardegna and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Villa Carina. We wished we'd booked to stay there for two weeks and didn't want to leave after a week but we thoroughly enjoyed our second week staying near Cala Liberotto further south. The villa was adequately furnished, with basic utensils provided. We advise you to stop at a supermarket on your way from the airport to pick up all supplies such as bottled water, soap, washing-up liquid, toilet rolls etc as only the very minimum provided. We carried all these essentials to our next villa only to find all of these items were supplied. Our favourite beach of the holiday was only a 5 minute drive away in Valle d'Erica. We found the more bumpy the road/track, the better the beach! We were lucky with the weather and got to swim everyday in pretty much deserted bays. A few beach toys, umbrellas etc were available to use at the villa, which was good for our young daughter. The garden surrounding the villa was private and we enjoyed eating on the terrace, with stunning views of the inlet with yachts and boats meandering by. We found plenty of good restaurants around, but quite a few of the agriturismo's we wanted to try had already closed for the season. We had an enjoyable meal at Marlins in Santa Teresa are remembered to mention the villa owners name and they kindly deducted 10% off the bill. The villa was extremely quiet and just perfect as we felt very rested and relaxed only a few hours after we arrived. We did see a few wild boars and a few wild tortoises whilst in Conca Verde, which our 4yr old found very entertaining. The roof terrace was a perfect setting for an evening drink under the stars, the only downside were the few mosquitos that lingered. The villa was clean, gardens were well kept, what you are really paying for is the beautiful setting. The furnishings were basic but comfortable and we all agree that we would jump at the chance of another stay there.

The patio is wonderful. When the heat was too much it was our favourite spot. The wiev from the terasse above was just perfect. If you want a quiet and relaxing stay in beatiful surroundings, then its the perfect place. We enjoyed our stay very much. The correspondence with the owner, Mark Nelson, was very easy and comfortable.

"Charming villa on lovely location"
We enjoyed staying in this villa, situated near a small local beach. The garden is lovely with flowers in blossom, private and it is safe for small children to play in. From the patio you can have a meal with seaview or relax in comfortable chairs. From the roof terrace you have even better view, but the furnitures there could be better, and an umbrella for the sun would be nice. In the area there are numerous of lovely beaches to drive to. If you like watersport, like wind surfing or kiting, this is a perfect place, but you can also find calmer sea and more quiter beaches. The villa was perfect for our family with small children and the Conca Verde area is safe and quiet.
