Mrs Bests Holiday Cottage is a beautiful hamstone cottage set in the pretty village of Compton Pauncefoot; a peaceful village of about 25 houses. The cottage was modernized to a high standard in 2011 and has been awarded 4 Stars and a gold award by the Visit Britain.
The living room boasts a large inglenook fireplace & wood burner, a window seat and an exposed beam. The kitchen has a new hand painted kitchen with granite work surfaces and the original blue lias floor which easily seats 8 for dining. The property has been fully rewired and new central heating has been installed.
There is a large downstairs shower room, with WC; convenient for use by the household, as well as to be used by the occupants of the ground floor bedroom, which is ideal for 2 children, or may be an older relation.
Upstairs there are three good sized double bedrooms, with exposed floor boards and beams, together with two family bathrooms, one boasting a roll top bath.
The cottage benefits from a large south facing patio, over looking the neighbouring field. There is ample parking space for three cars.

The Compton Pauncefoot area
Compton Pauncefoot is a beautiful English village on the Somerset/Dorset/Wiltshire border.
Here is just a flavour of the many local facilities, attractions and activities in the local area.
Shopping, You will want to know first that Compton Pauncefoot does not have a shop or pub; but the nearest village shops are North Cadbury, Charlton Horthorne and Sparkford. Every shop has all essentials and Sparkford is also a petrol station and has a MacDonalds Restaurant.
For more extensive shopping go to Wincanton, 6 miles away. As you arrive you will find a large Morrisons with petrol and a Lidl next door. Go into the town (via the one way system) and you will find an excellent butcher, Andrew Barclay, in the High Street aswell as an Ironmonger, 2 banks, florist, post office, beautician and dry cleaner/laundry to name but a few of the shops.
Farmers markets are held monthly in Sherborne on Saturdays and Wincanton on Fridays.
Eating out - most local pubs serve proper meals not just bar snacks, good food pubs within walking distance of the cottage are The Camelot at South Cadbury, 2 miles, The Kings Arms at Charlton Horethorne, 4 miles; The Old Inn at Holton, 3 miles; The Queen's Árms, Corton Denham 4 miles. Further afield there is The Stags Head at Yarlington, The Mitre Inn at Sandford Orcas, The Montague Inn at Shepton Montague, The Red Lion at Babcary and the Stapleton Arms at Buckhorn Weston.
Recommended local restaurants include:- At The Chapel, Bruton; Capozzolis, Ilchestser; The Green, Sherborne.
There are many take away restaurants nearby, some of which deliver. In Wincanton there are Indian, Chinese, Fish and Chips, Pizza and Kebab.
The Chapel Cross Tea Rooms in South Cadbury, an easy walk from the Cottage is open from Wednesday to Sunday for scrummy cakes and light meals in an ancient Chapel.

Compton Pauncefoot is located just off the A303 which provides fast access to the M3, & M25 for Heathrow, London, Gatwick etc. It is an easy 2 and half hour drive from central London.
Other airports a convenient distance include Southampton, Bristol, Bournemouth etc.
Train options include the Waterloo/Exeter line to Templecombe Station as well as Paddington/Taunton line to Castle Cary. Taxis can be booked to pick up from the stations.
Fast Berrys Coaches from Hammersmith are affordable and stop at Wincanton (4m).
Compton Pauncefoot is less than one hour from the South coast around Weymouth and Lyme Regis as well as less than an hour from the north coast which includes Weston-Super-Mare.
