Within walking distance to the Whilte village of Competa, with a good selection of shops and restaurants. Just 15 km from the main road junction provides easy access to a series of coastal resort towns like Torrox Coast, Nerja, Torre del Mar and Malaga all famous for their long sandy beaches, shopping and nightlife. The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
As the largest region in Spain, Andalucia adds an overwhelming wealth of scenery, culture and history to its brilliant beaches and coastline. Spanish people here are very friendly to foreigners coming to live or vacation in their village and make you feel very welcome. Their are many places of interest within driving distance. They include the underground caves at Nerja, the city of Malaga which has been transformed in recent years since the opening of the Picasso museum in 2003. The city of Granada, home of the Alhambra Palace and flamenco along with winter Skiing makes a visit a great option (95 miles from Finca A Coruna most on motoway.) This historic cities of Cordoba and Seville are both within an easy drive. As they say smile you in Spain.
Competa is situated in Axarquia, the coastal province east of Malaga. Competa is set some 600 metres above sea level in the Sierra Almijara, the snow capped range of mountains between Malaga & Granada, that stretch down to the warm Mediterranean. Nestled in the mountains and surrounded by olive groves and almond blossoms, Competa offers the hospitality of the Andalusians who gladly share with you their leisurely lifestyle.
The local climate produces more than 300 sunny days a year and temperatures are pleasant all year round.
The Andalusian culture offers a mix of Mediterranean and Arab customs dating from earlier times. Glorious cities like Malaga, Granada, Cordoba and Sevilla are nearby.
The village is surrounded by a 4,000 hectares wide wildlife reserve, the Sierra Almijara, with peaks as high as 2,068 metres. A stunningly beautiful natural park where you can go for walks to encounter mountain goats, eagles and a very rich vegetation.
Yet, the sandy beaches and coastal villages of Axarquia are also very near. Competa has 35 bars and restaurants offering excellent tapas and meals at low prices.
The area of Competa has one of the best climates in Europe, and the land surrounding the village and down to the coast is filled with vineyards, olive and lemon groves, tropical fruits such as avocado, mango and kiwi, all idealy suited to this sub tropical climate. The locally produced Moscatel wine is famous throughout the region. You can visit one of the bodegas and taste it yourself!
Competa / Canillas de Albaida area
The village of Competa is close to the smaller villages of Canillas de Albaida, approximately 2kms, both of which can easily be reached on foot from A Coruna, which is perfect for visitors wishing to eat out in one of the many fine local restaurants and who wish to take a drink with their meal. Both villages are served very well with Supermarkets and splendid gift shops. The many fine coastal areas and resorts such as Nerja, Torrox Costa, Torre Del Mar and Malaga are all close by car or public bus. The whole area of Competa is a walker's paradise with a wide range of walks in the National park accessed directly from the finca. Other local facilities include tennis, pony trekking and horse-riding and even Paragliding for those brave enough to enjoy this wonderful countryside from the air.
How to get there
The white village of Competa, is 68 kms from Malaga airport, with 42 Kms of motorway, journey time is just 1 hour from Malaga airport. The village is situated just north of the resorts of Torrox and Nerja and is approx 14kms from the sea on the edge of a national park. Please contact us for a route plan. There are a range of low coast airlines accessing Malaga. The Finca is located only 2Km from the village, and is accessed on a short concreted track off the minor road. Competa, a delightful medium-sized white village.

Malaga is the largest airport and is currently being expanded and is well served by the low coat carries like Ryanair and Easyjet.
Because of the competition and the volume of cars rented, car rental in Malaga are among the cheapest in Europe, again a web search is advised to get the best deals.

Further details indoors: The finca has three bedrooms, the master has an en suite facility and overhead fan. The other two bedrooms, one double and one twin share a bathroom located between them. The modern designed kitchen is fully fitted and the kitchen, the living room and master bedroom all have double door access to the large covered terrace and pool areas. Hot water is provided by a gas powered heater located adjecent to the finca. A traditional designed barbecue is provided. The Finca is equipped with Central heating throughout and a wood burning stove for cool winter evenings. A collection of DVD and book library are provided.
