About the home

Beautiful character farmhouse,The Retreat. The farmhouse caters for those wanting a peaceful rural location but, within easy drive distance of the local village of Competa, places of interest, coast and towns, whilst remaining a charming haven to return to and enjoy.
There are lovely patios overlooking the pool and gardens. The main south facing patio leads to larger patio shaded by ancient tree with al fresco dining area and barbicue. From this area steps lead onto large sun deck facing south/west, with views down the valley to the ocean and on a clear day to Africa and east views to the mountains of the national park.A delightful home enjoyed by many family's for many years.

Three shower rooms/wc (one en suite). Large central lounge/dining room,through to study with doors out to patios overlooking the main garden and pool. Second lounge with French doors into small courtyard garden/patio. Good size kitchen/breakfast room, with door leading out to courtyard garden/patio. Main bedroom has en suite shower room with private patio and views to the national park. Second double bedroom has own small balcony overlooking garden and pool. Third double bedroom has access to enclosed courtyard/patio. Single bedroom for child/baby or adult & has french door out to cobbled patio. Outside is a fully furnished & shaded al fresco dining area with barbicue ,plus variouse other furnished patios and a large sun deck faceing south/ west and east,with beautiful views of valley ocean and the mountains of the national park. The house and Gardens have a wealth of hidden corners to relaxe in or sun bath, with lovely shaded areas for those who preffer a sheltered spot.The Gardens are lush and well established ,the pool and gardens have both sun drenched sunbathing areas and shade to relaxe in and enjoy.

The main garden is reached via stairs and has many shaded area's or sun bathing patios and pool 4x7mtrs. The gardens surrounding the property are lush and well established.The property benefits from haveing lovely views in all directions,and a very peaceful atmosphere.
Good secure parking for several cars .
The property is reached via a dirt track which is maintained. Car Hire is needed for this holiday. We do point out that it is not a easy property for the toddler age group due to the various levels at the property. Baby and older children are fine and most welcome.

Further details

Cot, play pen and high chair are provided, also bed linen and house towels. A caretaker is on hand to assist with anything you might need and maintains the pool and gardens when required.The Farmhouse caters for groups of 7persons maximum.

Smoking is permitted in outside areas only.

The Andalucia / Malaga Province region

Costa del Sol is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Spain. It's golden-sand beaches and a sunny weather all year round, it draws holiday makers from all over the world.

Málaga is a port city in Andalusia, southern Spain. Together with the Rincón de la Victoria, Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola and Alhaurín de la Torre creating a urban area named Greater Málaga

Málaga is surrounded by mountains, lying in the southern base of the Axarquía hills, and two rivers, the Guadalmedina - the historic centre is located on its left bank - and the Guadalhorce, which flows west of the city into the Mediterranean.

The inner city of Málaga is just behind the harbour. The quarters of El Perchel, La Trinidad and Lagunillas surround this centre. The city has much revenue from the agricultural sector and from tourism.

The Competa area

The white washed village of Competa (called the bride when lit up at night) has a variety of good eating places of individual Merritt, along with tapas bars and night club/disco bars for the younger age groups.

The ancient village with its charming old buildings and winding lanes remains very traditional with its central plaza and ancient church. Music and fiestas are a way of life in Spain, Competa has its local talents, live music both traditional and modern to enjoy. Local market is held on Saturday mornings ,supermarkets with a variety of shops throughout the village.

The village also has its own tourist information office. Quite apart from the lovely mountain village of Competa many smaller mountain villages exist for you to visit .the whole area is situated on the fringe of the national park with outstanding views and areas to explore with picnic area and shallow river bathing in crystal clear mountain water.

The retreat is just three klm's (ten minutes drive to the village of competa)and within easy drive distance of many places of interest.

Local beaches, extensive shopping facilities and golf course.

Guestbook for The Retreat

The Retreat is often visited by repeat bookings and this season has been much the same , with of course first time visitors from all parts of the globe .but, in the main European and British. As owner I am always pleased and delighted to see families return and have got to know some delightful families over the years and seen children grow durring those years. The many cards and notes of thanks I can not post here but, the feed back assures me the Retreat is enjoyed and that gives me great pleasure.
