Built in the rustic style, Villa Maroma is an absolute delight. On entering the property there is an open-plan living area with log burning fire which leads through to the compact kitchen area. With the master bedroom being downstairs complete with it's own en-suite bathroom and private terrace, it is an ideal property for more frail guests. In keeping with the rustic style the property has been furnished sympathetically and wooden stairs lead to the galleried bedroom containing two single beds. The lounge is furnished with a grande leather sofa and Morrocan stools and has a flat screen Sky TV system, and DVD player. The second galleried bedroom has two single beds and a further put up bed. Off the lounge is a further shower room with toilet, again ideal for anyone who has difficulty with stairs.

The garden is an absolute delight with many mature trees and plants. A kidney shaped swimming pool, a utility room and a brick built barbecue. Ranch style fencing. The 800 square metre plot is fully fenced and gated with private parking which is ideal if you have children in your party. The views from the property are incredible with mountains to the rear of the villa and looking down to the valley below from the front of the property. At night the lights of other villas in the distance twinkle below the sky also making this an extremely romatic get away location. This is a very private property.
The Andalucia region
With almost all year round sunshine and a wonderful coast line this area of Spain has it all. With mountains and spectacular beaches there is something for everyone of all ages. The city of Malaga offers old churches, parks and museums the most well known being Picasso. Marbella old town offers wonderful shopping whilst the buzzing port of Puerto Banus is a people watchers paradise with the rich and famous being frequent visitors in their incredible yachts. In the mountains you will find the typical Andalucian white washed villages where you can experience the true and typical Spanish lifestyle and wonderful cuisine.
Surrounded by the white washed villages of Torrox, Sayalonga, Frigiliana, Archez, Canillas de Albaida is described as the pearl of the Axarquia. Pony trecking, off-road motorbiking, walking and painting, mountain biking are all available within the local area. If you prefer, you can just while away your time in one of the many bars and restaurants to be found in the beautiful village squares.
Villa Maroma is situated on the east side of Malaga. 30 mins. drive inland from the costal resort of Torre del Mar. Although in a rural situation the villa is only a 4 minute drive to the nearest village Canillas del Albaida, a small white washed village filled with colour. At the foot hills of the Sirra Almijara a very beautiful spot with the views at the rear of the villa over the mountains a sheer delight. From the front of the villa the scenery takes in views of vineyards and olive groves, a painters paradise.

"The perfect place to leave the stress of normal life behind you."
Villa Maroma turned out to be a perfect choice for our holiday. We were two couple who live quite far apart and met for the holiday. We were explicitly looking for a place that would allow us to relax… More
Once again a positive review which is a delight for me to read. Thank you very much for your kind words and I am so glad that Villa Maroma was all and more you were hoping for. It will be an absolute pleasure to welcome these guests back to Villa Maroma.

"Charming, peaceful, clean and homely"
We are just coming to the end of our third stay at Villa Maroma and have found it as pretty, clean and comfortable as ever. The pool is wonderfully refeshing (swam every day), decor is homely and comf… More
This was indeed this couples third stay at Villa Maroma!!! A huge compliment to both myself but in particular the couple who maintain the villa on my behalf and of course, Villa Maroma itself. It is most certainly a place that draws you back time and time again and I am so glad these guests have had yet another great stay and look forward to perhaps a fourth visit!! Thank you so much for your review.

These guests were our second honeymoon couple at Villa Maroma and I'm delighted that they both had a good time and that every aspect of the villa and all it has to offer met with their expectations. As with many visitors to Villa Maroma it seems that a return visit may well be in their future plans.

Reviews like this are lovely to read and confirmation that all of the work that goes into maintaining Villa Maroma to our high standards is working and that guests are returning for second and third visits.

"Concerns over pool water condition and general upkeep issues."
Firstly I would state that we did not let certain failings of the property and villa caretakers [?] spoil our holiday, and we would recommend the region to visit, just do not stay at this Villa.Follow… More
The positive result to this guests stay is that he recommends a "visit" to the region. Being the next person to stay at Villa Maroma immediately after this gentleman's departure and already in receipt of not 1 as he states, but 3 of his emails, I was able to fully investigate his numerous concerns with my maintenance personnel. My findings were that each and every one of his complaints were dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible and in most cases, rectified immediately, with however, just one exception, his request to reduce the level of the water in the swimming pool to accommodate his partners height!! Sadly that was not possible due to the finite workings of a swimming pool. Villa Maroma does indeed have customers who return year after year, a fact which this gentleman seems to very rudely question in his review. My belief is that the reviews to date of Villa Maroma speak for themselves (some from "returning customers")!! Both the pool, the exterior and interior of Villa Maroma are all spotlessly clean and it's location most certainly has the wow factor. I note that although he doesn't recommend a stay in the area, he does recommend a visit. Villa Maroma, its unique location and undeniable atmosphere, are without question "true Spain" and incredibly beautiful. My suggestion would be that this gentleman and his party choose somewhere more suitable for their next vacation. A place which meets their needs and perhaps includes 24 hour room service.

"A special place: beautiful, cosy, secluded not isolated & well-equipped"
Villa Maroma is special - different from other rentable villas in that area because they all seemed a little bare and exposed. This property though is prettily tucked away behind established trees and… More
This was Jo and Billy's second visit to Villa Maroma and I sincerely hope they return again one day. The out of season work that my partner and I do in order to maintain and also continually improve our standards is all very worthwhile when we know that our guests have had a fabulous holiday at Villa Maroma.

"Beautiful Location & decor. Terrifying drive to get there!"
Villa Maroma is described as 'A real away from it all haven' & 'yet only a short drive to the coast of the Costa del Sol'. What it does not say is anything about the 50 minute drive after exiting the motorway up winding, unlit mountain roads, hairpin bends and steadily climbing hundreds of metres. This journey is not for the faint hearted! I was relieved we did not have a night flight as I don't think we would have arrived at all! We did not risk travelling on these roads after dark, therefore were unable to eat out at night. Parts of the roads to the Villa are single track & without crash barriers.
The villa is beautifully furnished but as there were no fans & the mezzanine level had no opening windows, my children could not sleep upstairs as it was unbearably hot. I noticed sevral visitors had commented about this in the guest book for a few years. I have stayed in many villas in Europe but have never experienced such a hazardous journey. Also our hire car struggled with the steepness of the roads, having to drive in 1st gear for many parts of the journey. I would reccomend a 4 wheel drive if you are considering to stay here! (Check the location on google maps).
Villa Maroma is exactly as described a "get away from it all haven" which 99.9% of visitors to our home are looking for. Somewhere to get away from the hustle and bustle of normal life and relax in the peace and tranquility of the villas unique location. Indeed the photographs on the web site show beautiful views of the mountains and valleys below by which it is surrounded. One has to recognise that a relatively short journey to an idyllic location such as this is not quite the same as a leisurely drive along a busy well lit costal road and most take it in their stride. As such if one wants a sample of authentic, unspoilt Spain and all of the delights it has to offer they will be prepared to go off the main roads of Spain in order to discover for themselves what is on offer in these beautiful white washed villages. Both ourselves and the vast majority of our guests manage the drive easily from the motorway exit and the drive to the coast in just 30 minutes in the usual inexpensive holiday hire cars. A 4x4 is definetly not a necessity for most experienced drivers. It's a shame these guests did not venture out to the villages in order to dine alfresco in the many beautiful restaurants located in the village squares and side streets and see for themselves just how many holidaymakers in the area familiarise themselves with the true taste of Spain. Perhaps a holiday in a more commercial, well lit area would be a safer option when considering their next vacation.

"Villa Maroma was all and more than we had hoped it would be."
Villa Maroma was our first family holiday abroad with two children (ages 7 & 5). We wanted a special holiday and Villa Maroma was more than we had hoped it would be. The villa is situated on a hillside a short drive outside Canillas de Albaida, with fantastic views of the scenic mountains on all sides. The pool is bathed in sunshine all day, but with plenty shade around the pool when you need to escape the sun. Excellent facilities both inside and outside of the villa, the villa is beautifully decorated and has all the home comforts that you can think of. Nice local towns and villages with plenty of restaurants cafes and small supermarkets. All of the roads to the villa from the coastal motorway are good, they are twisty and turney but excellent scenery, we enjoyed our late afternoon trips to the beaches at Nerja, also plenty of larger supermarkets at the coast (useful if you want to do a big shop at the start of the holiday which we shall do next year). We have just received our holiday photos and instantly knew we would have to book our return trip for next summer!
We are delighted to be welcoming back this family in 2013 to Villa Maroma.
