About the home

Peaceful location within the Sierra Almijara National Park well known for its wild goat and eagle.This is a quiet 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom (1 en suite) property having been recently totally upgraded and situated about 10 mintes from Competa. Well furnished with a large living room and modern kitchen. Very private swimming pool with sun loungers and parasols as well as 2 new recently extended terraces which create loads of shade and loads of sun and is usually accompanied by a gentle cooling breeze in the height of the summer! From the terraces one can sometimes see the lights of the North African coastline and the Rif mountains beyond to the west and the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range to the east. All windows have stunning views. Wonderful sunrises and amazing sunsets. This property is situated about 10 minutes from tthe thriving whitwash village of Competa with its many restaurants, tapas bars and shops.

The Andalucia / Malaga Province region

The average sunshine for this part of Spain is in the region of 300 days per year. The well known 18 hole Baviera Golf course is located within a 30 minute drive. Cost about £30.
Nerja, about 30 minutes away, provides some good beach restaurants at playa Burriana, with excellent locally caught fish on the menu. It also has the magnificent Nerja caves which are considered to be one of the finest in Europe
It is possible to sun bathe in the morning on the terrace and ski in the Sierra Nevada in the afternoon!
Walking in the Sierra Nevada, Sierra Almijara or the Alpujarras is wonderful when the climate is slightly cooler! Granada with the Alhambra Palace is about a 90 minute drive and is a "must" for first time visitors. Best to book in advance in the height of the summer.

The Competa / Canillas de Albaida area

This holiday mountain retreat acts as an ideal base for exploring the local white washed villages, walking in the hills , bird watching, horse riding, cycling, photography, painting, quad biking, hang gliding, 4x4 excursions or just lazing by the pool! Competa has a local tourist where it is possible to arrange all or any of these excursions. Competa has a good selection of restaurants and tapas bars as well as supermarkets and banks. Competa boasts some of the finest locally made wine and honey. A Spanish learning school is also situated in Competa. Ferries ply daily between the Malaga ferry terminal and the North African Spanish enclave of Mellila. Further along the coast it is possible to cross the Mediterranean from Algeciras (or Tarifa) to Morocco with or without a car, which can take from 35 minute (phone 0034 956 681830). Trips to Gibraltar are also possible.

All major UK airlines fly into Malaga from most UK airports. Prices can start from £60 in the winter and off season. Car Hire is essential and Malaga has a selection of various car rental companies in terminal and some cheaper ones just outside the perimeter. I generally use the services of a UK company called IVR on 01442 230050 and Scott is always available to help. The property is situated about 60 minutes away; 30 minutes on motorway and 30 minutes on trunk road.
