Home description
The property consists of the main villa which has 3 bedrooms (2 en-suite) and a separate 2 bed apartment which has its own private terrace. The property is beautifully furnished with rustic style furniture, a real home from home.
Through the patio doors you are taken from the lounge into a internal courtyard with an ancient almond tree bouganvillia and panoramic views to the coast. From the courtyard you will find the main entrance to the apartment as well as 2 roof terraces offering both views of mountains and the sea. Walk through the arched gateway into the spacious walled pool area with sun loungers and a covered kitchen-dining area. The swimming pool is 8x4m and shallow (1.2-1.5m deep) with steps where you can sit and cool off. The kitchen area includes a full size cooker,small fridge for those essential cold drinks a sink and a table for 6. Bedding and towels are included but you are asked to bring your own towels for the beach and pool.
The property is very spacious and with 4 terraces and 2 covered terraces you can always find some where for a little peace and quiet.

The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
With one of the best climates in Europe, 320 days of sunshine and mild winters you could be forgiven for having no other reason than this for coming here. If however you are feeling a little adventurous this region offers many great places to visit.
With the new coastal motorway a short 2 hour drive away could have you Skiing in the Sierra Nevada mountains, Marvelling at the moorish architecture of the Alhambra Palace in Granada, Crossing the straights to Gibraltar, On a ferry from Algeciras to Morocco or standing in the middle of one of Spains oldest bull rings in Ronda. A little closer to home is the Pablo Picasso Museum in Malaga.The possibilities are endless.
Competa area
The villa is just a 5 minute drive from Competa.This village is, 650 metres above sea level and 18 kilometres from the coast, and is one of the loveliest in the Axarquia region. With a population of over 3,500, it is slightly larger than the neighbouring villages; a bustling and attractive town. Though Cómpeta has many modern facilities it remains a rural Spanish village: local farmers still set out early each morning to tend the olive, almond and tropical fruit groves, as well as the vineyards that produce the well known Cómpeta wine. This harvest is celebrated every August in the Noche del Vino with singing, dancing and plenty of food and drink.
Competa has many bars and the restaurants offering typically Spanish dishes as well as good quality international cuisine. There are a number of banks,supermarkets,chemists,tour operator and gift shops and a small market is held every Saturday morning.
Such is the natural beauty and importance of the surrounding area it has been designated a National Park. With some of the best walks in Europe there are routes for all abilities and local guides can be found in the village. Cycling;horse riding and pony treking are also available.For those who like their fun at a slightly quicker pace quad and motor cross biking is also available.
The busy resort of Nerja is aproximately 30 minutes down to the coast with all the shopping,bars and restaurants you could wish for.Fantastic sandy beaches,water sports and a large street market every Tuesday as well as the amazing Caves of Nerja are even more reason to give this lively town a visit.
Torrox costa offers a slower pace of beach life with little tavernas on the beach and with many larger supermarkets it is a good place to stock up with drinks and supplies. Velez Malaga with its fort standing on the hill looks down over Torre Del Mar with an 18 hole golf course, Aquavelis water park, and large hypermarket .An exstensive promade allows you to walk the entire length of beach front with shaded areas to stop and sit at long the way.
How to get there
Most airlines fly to Malaga airport including many low budget carriers such as Easyjet, Ryanair, Jet2 and Bmibaby.
We have found car hire from www.Carjet.com to be very reasonable. They use many of the car hire companies based at Malaga airport so that they can offer you the best prices.
A car is essential as the property is situated a few minutes drive from Competa in a rural location. The villa is 1 hour from Malaga airport and is easy to reach via the coastal motorway.
You will be met and taken to the villa by Jim and Julie,who are the caretakers of the villa.

Further details indoors: The main villa consists of the entrance hall leading to Bedroom 1 with 2 single beds and en suite shower room, Bedroom 2 has a double bed and stunning views over the courtyard and neighbouring mountains. Main bathroom has a corner bath and walk in shower.
Through an arch you find the open plan lounge and dining area, with 2 settees, fireplace with log burning fire and a table for 6. There is English tv, a dvd player and a small hi-fi. The kitchen has a large range gas cooker, fridge,freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle. Through the stable style kitchen door is a tiled terrace area with views to the mountains and splash pool. The perfect place to sit and enjoy breakfast as the sun rises. From the lounge there are 2 sets of patio doors, One takes you to directly onto the courtyard the other to a covered sitting area and bedroom 3 which consists of Double bed with en suite shower room which can double as the pool bathroom as it has a door to the courtyard.
The separate apartment has 2 bedrooms, kitchen diner, lounge and bathroom.The main entrance is located from the courtyard. From the hall you have a double bedroom to your left which has patio doors leading to the terrace with the mountain views and a small splash pool.
Off the hall is the bathroom and to the right down 2 steps is the open plan lounge and kitchen diner. The second bedroom can be found down a few steps and has 2 single beds with patio doors opening out onto a shaded terrace which can also be accessed from the kitchen.
The lounge has a bed settee and a wood stove, there is English tv, a dvd and a video player. In the kitchen there is a full size cooker, fridge, kettle and toaster. All are furnished to a very high standard and smoking is only permitted outside and in the undercover areas which is probably where you'll want to spend all your time anyway.
Further details outdoors: The courtyard can be entered through a large old wooden door via the covered sitting area, This has a 2 seater bed settee and a coffee table in it. The pool gates can be locked which means that you don't have to worry about the children getting into the pool unsupervised. As well as the covered pool kitchen area there is also a table for 6 on the roof terrace near the kitchen of the house.
