It is situated approximately 7 mins drive from Cómpeta with it's excellent selection of tapas bars and restaurants. It is only 35 minutes to the coastal resort of Nerja and 25 minutes to Torrox Costa.
The property backs onto the Parque Natural of La Sierra de Tejeda, which is easily reachable by foot for those who enjoy walking and exploring this beautiful part of Axarquia.
Use of the owner's private swimming pool during the summer months. As the owners run a shop in the village usage for most of the day is exclusive.

The Andalucia / Malaga Province region
Competa is only a 25 minute drive to the coast and Torrox Costa with its long promenade running along the sea front. Torrox Costa has the honour of having "El mejor clima de Europa" - The best climate in Europe. The coastal resort of Nerja with its excellent beach at Burriana is a 35 minute drive away where you can also visit the famous Nerja Caves.
A visit to Granada and the Sierra Nevada is a scenic 2 hour drive away with perhaps a refreshment stop in La Herradura on the Costa Tropical.
A visit to Malaga city would only be an hour's drive or there is a coach which can be taken from Competa direct to the city centre.
Torre del Mar, as well as being a coastal town, has excellent shopping as does the shopping centre close by at El Ingenio with its cinema and restaurants.
The Competa area
Competa is a typical white Andalusian village in the mountain regions of Sierra de Tejeda and Almijara. It has a picturesque square with its ancient church and a wide choice of tapas bars and restaurants in the village and surrounding villages.
It is ideally placed for those who enjoy the outdoors and offers excellent walking, mountain biking, trails bike riding and horse riding in the spectacular national park.
Competa is famed for its wine and has an annual wine festival (Noche del Vino) on 15th August every year.

We stayed at Casa Rey in April 2012 for a week, arriving late on Easter Sunday. The owners, Debbie and Alick were very speedy and efficient in their email correspondence, and we had our booking confirmed the same day we sent off our initial enquiry email. We asked if Alick and Debbie could organise us a few provisions for our arrival due to our late arrival time, and they were more than happy to do this for us. Alick and Debbie run the local newsagents in Competa and have a good knowledge of what there is do and see in the area. On our last night they kindly made us a reservation and El Pilon in Competa for a superb meal and we enjoyed an evening of good food and Flamenco guitar music. Casa Rey is clean, light, and airy and has everything you could need. The directions provided were excellent and proved easy to follow. There is a very comprehensive and well written information pack with maps of local towns and walks from Casa Rey. We spent a lot of time sitting out enjoying the splendid views down the valley to the sea, watching the birds from the terrace. Beeaters, Serin, Sardinian Warbler, Blue rock thrush, and Booted and Short-toed eagles were just a few of the highlights easily seen from Casa Rey that are typical of the area. It was also nice to make friends with Timi and Maddie the spaniels, who were as welcoming and friendly as Alick and Debbie. Casa Rey was just what we needed to get away from the Scottish weather for a relaxing break in a fantastic property, set in stunning scenery. |

Stayed at Casa Rey in December during my visit to Competa, I must stay that this apartment was in excellent condition and nicely decorated. It is fully equipped. The location is quite and peaceful and there are wonderful views from the apartment out over the valley towards the sea. The area is suitable for people who like the outdoors as there are several walks just from the house alone. The owners give you use of the pool in the summer months and it is in a lovely setting. My hosts Debbie and Alick were extreamly helpful and even picked me up at Malaga airport as the were leaving off an friend at the same time of my arrival. The village of Competa is 20 minutes walk and is a really nice spanish village, not very expensive at all, lots of nice tapas bars, cafes, etc to eat in. It is a quaint village set in the spanish mountains and all less than 30 mins from the coast. I would recommend this property to any one who wants a nice getaway. The price of the apartment is reasonable. |

Great location with stunning scenery. The nearby village of Competa has several excellent restaurants selling traditional Spanish food. The village has not been spoilt by development. Alternatively there is a well equiped kitchen if you prefer to cook and enjoy a quiet meal, with a good bottle of wine while enjoying the panoramic views.The coastal village of Nerja is approximately 40 minutes drive is well worth a visit. Debbie and Allick made us feel very welcome and having Maddy and Timmy, their Spaniels, as companions was an absolute bonus. |
