Welcome to Antico Posto.

Apartment Antico Posto is unique since it's been made out of a loft . Therefore conventional descriptions of any rooms might not be appropriate.

At the entrance right behind the security door there is a mirror hiding spacious closets with drawers and a safe.

There is a table for four/six dining seats, a wicker sofa and an ethnic bench on the side of one of the two French windows leaning on two small balconies with flowerpots.

Right on your right there is the kitchen equipped with fridge, freezer, electric oven, microwave oven, coffee machine, kettle, toaster and four cookers.

There are also two useful tables to prepare your breakfast.

In the apartment there are two bathrooms: one is on the side of the smaller bedroom and has a bath tub ; the other one is an en suite bathroom with shower. (towels and linen are provided).

The main room has no door because internal walls are very thick ; so there are two different areas in it : on the left side there are two single beds, and the TV set. On the right side there is the relax area with sofa, two armchairs, a teak coffee table and a chest of drawers.

Air conditioning fans have not been placed in the bedrooms on purpose. They are more appropriately located at the entrance and in the main room.

By turning them on during the day they provide enough fresh air all night long.

Heating is provided by a gas heater placed outside the apartment on the landing.

Wi-fi is available for guests and included in our fees.

Antico Posto is suitable for families ( children over 5 years only ) or groups of friends who want to stay in a very central location in Como, which is so close to main railway stations, bus stations and main jetties that one can enjoy a relaxing holiday with no need for driving.

We treasure our guest's suggestions and/or criticisms in order to improve year by year the quality of our service by doing necessary maintenance and/or needed changes in any apartment.

Finding free parking places in Como old town centre is quite impossible. Actually they are all with parking meters with coins.

We might suggest then to access Parking Centro Lago which is the closest parking lot to our building. Weekly fares are recommended.

In two minutes walking you can get to the lake promenade, boat jetties, railway and bus stations and Brunate's funicular (cable-rail). There is good train service to Milan (about every half hour) as well as major exhibition centres such as Fiera Milano Rho.

There is also a good service from Malpensa Airport to Como (Malpensa express train): change at Saronno to Como.

In town there is a wide choice of typical restaurants, pizzerias and shops and also markets, museums, banks, pharmacies, and supermarkets.

About this location

The Lake Como region

Lombardy ( Lombardia) is one of the twenty regions of Italy. The capital city is Milan. One-sixth of Italy's population lives in Lombardy the most populous and richest region in the Country and one of the richest in the whole of Europe.

The climate of this region is continental, though with variations depending on altitude or the presence of inland waters. Lake Como weather is generally mild. It is known for its Mediterranean-like climate where tropical and sub-tropical plants can grow year-round. In the winter, the lake helps to maintain a higher temperature in the surrounding region.

Old town centre of Como is only for pedestrians so that you can enjoy strolling about the small streets (via) or sitting by cafeterias in the squares (piazza), steeped in the town's every day's real life.

Como is really picturesque: shaped as in a grid inside the medieval walls, everything is at hand though, from restaurants to shops and supermarkets.

During Summer you can enjoy bathing at Villa Olmo's swimming pool (Lido) which is at the left end of the lake promenade at 15-20 mins walking distance from the apartments.

"Quaint Apartment in Terrific Location"

I stayed here for six days with a friend. The apartment occupies the entire attic level of a charming 3-storey building on a picturesque piazza within walking distance of shops, restaurants, grocery stores, the lakeshore and train station. We appreciated the completely outfitted kitchen, functional furnishings, terrific air-conditioning and broadband wifi. Considering there are sleeping accommodations for six, we had more than ample space with a bathroom per person. Because it is an attic apartment, the large wood supporting beams and peaked roof slope low to the outer sides of the rooms. While that adds to the charm, we each took turns hitting our heads on the beams until sensitized to be more aware. Surprisingly, windows in every room let the light in and a narrow balcony on one side allows access to the outdoors. There is no lift, so carrying luggage up and down the four flights of stairs is a real workout. And, it makes you think twice about a "quick run back to the apartment". Still, it is a cool, quiet and private refuge after a busy day. Gillian, the booking agent is extremely responsive and able to answer all questions. Giovanni, the local caretaker is equally responsive, accommodating and knowledgeable.

Where shall I start..?One of the reasons we booked this property was because on the site we booked it on ( the following was mentioned: "Luxuries: Boat available for guest u… More

Funnily enough the guest never asked us about boats or bicycles during his booking although we sent each other 46 e mails .
We are not a travel agency we just do rentals (with or without parking place + cleaning service).
There is an offer though about sailing in our website but of course that has to be arranged beforehand and is neither included in our fees, as specified in our reply , nor managed by us .
We report our entire e mail for the sake of truth :

“ Dear …..
as you can double check with our ad , in no other parts of it is mentioned about the " BOAT " . It is clearly a mistake along with the bicycles . We will delete it as soon as we can .
In our website there is an offer about a sail boat tour with a skipper but that has to be booked separately and in advance and not included in the price anyway .
in the apt there are folders about motor boat rentals and also about cycling tours.
To cut a long story short if you are not happy with the apt you can leave it and we will give you your money back.
No problem.
Please let us know then and we will arrange to do like this .”

The guest broke the toilet himself the first day he arrived .
Trouble was that during August Festivities (Ferragosto) no plumbers or plumber's suppliers were open .Besides there are two bathrooms in the apt.
We tried to fix it but we couldn't do it because a plastic screw was broken and there was no way to fix it without that part: in the end the guest left and we were lucky enough to repair it temporarily but we are still waiting for that plastic screw . Guest refused to pay the damage out of his deposit – and that was really arrogant.

When the guest arrived he was made aware by member of our staff about the fact that a pair of plugs didn't work ( one in the kitchen and another one close to one of the single beds ). One of our previous guests broke them and we were not able to detect them immediately and we apologized. Anyway the guest was given some multiple plugs and the problem was solved ( we want to specify that any plugs have been fixed afterwards before other guests were checking in ).

We never mention in our ads about terraces . We just have two small balconies .Trouble is that balconies are ticked in the appropriate box along with terraces ( they are in the same category ) . What should we do : telling guests that there are no balconies ? Of course they are small : apt is in a loft under the building's roof . Besides our photos of the apartment are pretty clear about it .
The real problem with terraces was that the guest was a cigar smoker but in our apt and in the premises smoking is not allowed, as stated in the ad.

This was our guest's reply about it:
“Balcony / Terrace (as advertised) is a “fata morgana” and as advertised readily untrue, seeing having a cigar on a terrace is a different experience..!! And Giovanni stating the no-smoking policy continuously, makes one wary..”

Apt Antico Posto is located in an historical building (3rd floor without lift) and is not suitable for people with restricted mobility . That is clearly stated in our ads.
If it's at the 3rd floor and with no lifts what do you expect to find but steps ?

In our ad is not written that A/C are in the bedrooms : we explain not to use appliances such as the washing machine , the kettle and or the hairdryer while the air conditioning is on ,otherwise you blow the fuse ( it is also written in our instructions that guests are invited to read in the apt ).
Anyway that depends on new electricity meters which are electronic and very sensitive.

All in all we think Antico Posto apartment is just as shown in our photos and descriptions : many of our guests as a matter of fact told us that it looks exactly like it is in the ad.
It's characteristic and we are proud of how we managed to refurbish it just as it is .
We know it's not perfect ( especially according to this guest's standards) but we think we gave it an allure of ancient and at the same time comfortable place where to spend a few days of holiday – possibly not just watching TV .
