The Devon region

Devon is one of the most diverse and beautiful counties in England. The South coast of Devon is famous for it's mix of both highly fashionable and traditional seaside towns and villages, clean beaches and warm welcome, while Dartmoor National Park is heaven for those who search for wild rugged beauty, natural wildlife and unspoilt beauty spots set amongst ancient woodlands and-crystal clear rivers.

Every type of holiday is catered for in this area - from sailing, golfing, surfing, fishing, diving, walking, cycling or........just simply relaxing.

Shaldon in Devon is a vibrant and beautiful seaside village which many visitors would prefer to be kept a secret!.

The village is loved by locals and visitors alike for its charming, friendly and rather special atmosphere. A variety of local shops provide everything needed to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable, all can be found within just 100 metres from our luxury beach hut. Shaldon's restaurants, beach cafes gastro and village pubs cater for every taste - from fine dining to freshly caught local seafood or a traditional Sunday roast. Whether you prefer speciality coffee or a cream tea, there is a great range of establishments for you to choose from.

Shaldon lies on the foreshore of the River Teign Estuary and is an ideally situated base from which the many other delights of Devon can be enjoyed. Dartmoor National Park, the cathedral city of Exeter, unique Totnes, and beautiful Dartmouth are all within easy reach, just a short drive away. A trip to the traditional seaside town of Teignmouth can be taken on the quaint passenger ferry which operates daily from Shaldon beach and gives the opportunity to enjoy the estuary at close quarters during the ten minute trip - bring your camera and make the most of the sights as you pass sailing boats, river craft and local fishing boats returming with the day's catch.

Alternatively, why not become a pirate for the day? Take a walk to the wild and beautiful Ness Cove beach (ten minutes on foot) which is accessed by it's very own smugglers tunnel! Close by is another of Shaldon's hidden treasures - a much loved and fascinating little zoo set amongst the shady trees of the Ness headland. Shaldon Wildlife Trust is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon and is enjoyable for both children and adults alike.

The beautiful coastal path can also be followed from here which hugs the cliffs towards Babbacombe and Torbay. The views are completely breathtaking, although this particular section of the path is not for the faint hearted!

For golf enthusiasts, Shaldon also has its own pitch and putt course which is situated near to the Ness headland. The views from this course are panoramic and on a clear day extend along the South coast as far as Dorset. For those who might prefer a more challenging game of golf, Teignmouth golf club is only a five minute drive away.

Enjoy an idyllic waterside experience in our lovely village, perfect for both weekly and short-term breaks.

Relax and unwind beside the beach, watch the sun go down over the estuary and the river light up...simply heaven. Let Shaldon be your new secret!
