Garden at Gara Mill, Slapton

Lodge | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
Garden is the perfect lodge for those of you who like the best of both worlds. If you fancy being so close to the countryside that you can smell the wild flowers from your private balcony, but you don't want to miss out on those little luxuries like a mattress you can sink into and an en-suite to your master bedroom, then this Scandinavian-style lodge is an ideal retreat.
A stay in Garden means sitting in the nearby meadow until the sun sets, impressing the kids with a family barbeque over the Indian fire pit and making the most of your own private decked balcony at any time of day. The lodge enjoys a secluded setting on the Gara Mill development and as pets are more than welcome it's an idyllic place to escape the world and enjoy the countryside.
The lodge has been thoughtfully designed, so you'll discover the kind of details that make a good holiday a great one throughout your stay. How do an open plan living space and floor to ceiling windows sound? The garden rolls straight onto the meadow beyond, so if you take the family (and the family pet) they'll have the run of the surrounding countryside. The park's nature trail makes exploring easy and there's nothing quite like ditching your sandals and wading through the stream on a hot sunny day.
The goat meadow is one of the park's finest vantage points for unspoilt views across the South Devon countryside, and if the sights inspire you to hop in the car and discover more you'll be able to take the dog to nearby Slapton Sands with you as they're welcome throughout the year. The beach is two miles from Gara Mill, and you'll find Slapton Ley Nature Reserve just behind it if you want to explore.
Please note: Short breaks are available anytime of year. These are Monday to Friday or Friday to Monday changeovers.
7 night stays are a Saturday changeover only.

About this location
The Devon region
The warm climate and award-winning beaches enjoyed by South Devon have kept it a fashionable holiday resort for many generations. Torquay, Paignton and Brixham make up Torbay, one of the most popular areas for holidays in South Devon, and the area also includes the coastal towns of Dawlish, Teignmouth and Starcross. South Devon holiday cottages position their guests in some of the country's prettiest locations for a break with a continental feel. South Devon hosts dozens of festivals and regattas throughout the whole year. One of the world's oldest shipwrecks was found off South Devon's coast. Pete Goss built his Team Phillips catamaran in Totnes
From Totnes and Ivybridge to Dartmouth and Salcombe, The South Hams sits between the moors and the sea providing you with the best of South Devon's rolling countryside and 60 miles of dramatic and ever-changing coastline.
There are six historic towns that collectively form The South Hams each with their own individual charm and unique characteristics; Dartmouth, Salcombe, Ivybridge, Totnes, Kingsbridge and Modbury. Meander along the pretty narrow streets and historic harbours and you will find a welcoming selection of gift shops, boutiques, galleries, restaurants and bars.
Head towards the coast and you will be greeted with an amazing selection of golden beaches and hidden coves. For the adventurous among us, water sports are available at many of the larger beaches while the smaller coves offer a peaceful retreat and are perfect for relaxing with a good book and a picnic.
