The West Country region

Berrynarbor nestles in the beautiful Sterridge valley and is a regular winner of the village of the year, most recently 2003. The white painted thatched cottages are decorated with flowerpot characters and gardens are spectacular. In the summer there are many activities organised by the locals which are very popular including fayres and hog roast barbecues.

The village is a haven of peace and tranquillity, even during the height of the summer season, making it the ideal place for a relaxing stay. Having won many awards in both 'Britain in Bloom' and 'Best Kept Village in Devon' competitions, the attractive well kept gardens and floral displays are outstanding. Quaint cottages and narrow streets, together with the 15th Century Manor Hall and 12th Century Church, add to the rural charm of the village and the outstanding "Ye Old Globe" pub is a popular place for eating out. There is ample free car parking and easy access from the A399.

Nearby the pretty linear village of Combe Martin has much to offer including a very pretty beach with rock pools to explore. Numerous shops and pubs and cafes include the famous pack of cards pub with a fabulous beer garden.

In Ilfracombe a traditional seaside town there are many attractions including a mainstream theatre pubs restaurants including Spanish, Italian and English a la carte varieties and new for this year Damien Hirsts waterfront cafe bar.

Sailing trips are on offer to the island of Lundy and day long sailing on a Victorian cruise ship newly restored to Padstow in Cornwall and back.

15 minutes drive to the finest family beach in Europe at Woolacombe surfers paradise with many varieties of eating places to explore in the town. A little further down the coast to wide sands of Saunton and Braunton and the majestic Croyde bay.
