Combe Martin

WALK TO - The nearest beach is a 15 minute walk away, or walk for 25 minutes to reach the beach at the foot of Combe Martin. Combe Martin has something for everyone, including hours of fun rockpooling with the children, or kayaking in the bay (available to hire on the beach). Fishing, either sea or coarse, walking the South West Coastal Path which runs through the village, visiting the Wildlife and Dinosaur Park or Watermouth Castle, coasteering and rock climbing, horse riding and much, much more! A slightly longer walk (40 minutes) to Hele Bay Beach (set in a small sheltered cove in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Hele Bay Beach is a part sand, part shingle beach and has been awarded the Blue Flag in recognition for its safe clean waters), Cafe Beachside (offering a mouth watering selection from all day breakfasts, light bites, sandwiches, bagels, paninis, pizzas as well as freshly ground coffee and traditional devon cream teas).

For the rambler and walkers, nearby Morte Point is worth the climb, with stunning views of the Bay and out to Lundy Island. Exmoor National Park is only a short distance away, and has numerous heather-strewn pathways and wooded valleys to explore, whether on foot or on horseback.

CYCLE TO - National Cycle Network, Devon Coast Route 27. This is a wonderfully scenic circular route on the North Devon coast with a link that allows a start and finish in nearby Ilfracombe, and takes in two superb traffic free sections, the National Trust coast route beside the sea at Woolacombe Sands and the former railway path from Ilfracombe to Willingcott Cross. The remainder is along attractive minor roads through quiet villages and rolling Devon farmland.

DRIVE TO - Ilfracombe - a great day out, with great fish and chips! The Blue Flag Beaches of Woolacombe, Putsborough and Croyde are a short drive away. Inland are some outstanding Golf Courses, multiple heritage sights and the market town of Barnstaple. Explore the beautiful Exmoor National Park. Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, The Milky Way and The Big Sheep are all within a short driving distance. Spend a quiet day on protected Hele Bay beach. Cultural days can be passed at Arlington Court, Ilfracombe, Watermouth Castle, Lynton, Lynmouth, Mortehoe (mentioned in the Doomsday Book) and many more. Willingcott Golf Course is a mere 3 miles down the road. Finally, picturesque walks through beautiful forested areas and running rivers such as at Watersmeet will complete your wonderful stay in this beautiful part of England.
