Farmhouse | 5 bedrooms | sleeps 14
Finca Lo Martin is a beautiful big farmhouse in a peaceful location as it sits within the Montes de Malaga, an amazing unspoilt area of Andalucia. This 200 year old building can easily sleep 10 but has the facilities to sleep 12 making it one of the best value rentals in this area.
Far from being a standard holiday rental this rustic property gives you the real feel of nostalgic rural Spain and makes the rental experience authentic and memorable.
The immediate grounds that are not only home to Ferry and Julie (who reside in Grandma's Cottage, next door) but also their collection of pets which include dogs, cats, hens and a pig.
The feel for the place is homely with fruit, salads and eggs all available fresh and great value.
The patios, terraces and amazing bigger than average Roman stepped swimming pool compliment the farmhouse and then take a back seat as your eyes feast on the amazing views, abundance of local plants, trees and the walks that are begging to be taken. An amazing place.
The nearest village to Finca lo Martin is the stunning mountain village of Comares.
This pretty white village sits hanging off a cliff and has strong Moorish influenced buildings and history, the position of the village means that is will not be commercialised to the main stream tourist trade and the coaches that pour into the villages nearer the coast do not venture this high up, which gives an amazing peaceful environment.
This area is the real Spain, accessible due to it being only 1 hour from Malaga, but unspoilt and in some ways in a time capsule of Olive Groves, Almond Orchards and Orange Trees that drop their fruit into the walkways below.
The experience of renting this amazing farmhouse allows guests to escape the everyday stress of current life whilst either simply relaxing around the pool and grounds or having an agenda that can take in cities such as Malaga and Granada, beaches like Torrox and Nerja with it's famous caves.
There are pretty villages, none as special as Comares that can be searched out and explored in abundance and if you like festivals these take place throughout the year and are plentiful throughout the spring and summer months.
The area lends itself to horse riding, walking, mountain biking, bird watching and many out door facilities.

The Andalucia region
Walking through the cobbled streets of the village is a delight. Not only is there a timeless, peaceful atmosphere throughout, but you can take a sub-conscious history lesson as you walk. The coloured ceramic tiles which decorate the village tell the story of Comares' place in Spanish history since the 3rd century BC. The remaining ruins of the huge Moors fortress of Comares tells a little of the story itself, but there is little remaining.
There are a handful of fantastic bars in Comares, a couple of exceptional restaurants and many doorstep stalls selling local wine, raisins, almonds, olives, honey and cheese. The local produce is mouth watering, and the little doorstep shops make cooking in a self catering Comares villa or apartment an absolute delight. During the St Hilairo de Poitiers festival from the 25th – 27th August each year, Comares springs into life, transforming form a sleepy, sun-drenched village to become a haven of activity, music, dance and food.
Comares lies just outside the Malaga Mountains Nature Park, a wonderful area of mountains, river valleys and thick forests awash with wildlife. The park is a fantastic place to walk and climb, surrounded by some of the finest views to be found across Andalucia, and in amongst the indigenous wildlife of the region.
Tranquil, Peaceful and Stunning are all descriptions which relate to this amazing area of Andalucia, close enough to add city trips such as Malaga and Granada to your agenda, the Alhambra Palace is a must and Finca lo Martin is realistically positioned to visit the famous caves of Nerja.
Within an hour there are stunning villages and amazing beaches, within 2 you can be nearly in Gibraltar or have stopped and shopped in Marbella or seen the riches of Puerto Banus .
This amazing area of the Mountains of Malaga is great to explore and wonderful to spend your holiday in.
The local land still has olives and almonds dripping of the trees and this amazing beautifully restored Farmhouse with private pool blends into the surroundings perfectly.
