The Andalucia region

The Costa del Sol is known for its wonderful year round warm climate, and is an ideal place to visit at any time of the year. It offers something for everyone, whether you want the bustle of a busy seaside resort or the peace and tranquillity of the mountains.

The popular bustling seaside resort of Nerja, famous for its caves, is just 40mins drive away and has many good restaurants and nightlife. Granada and the famous Alhambra Palace are just over an hours drive.

Malaga city has its charming historic 'old town', and the new Picasso Museum. Seville and Cordoba, both fascination cities, are slightly further afield and an overnight stay would be recommended.

Comares

Comares is one of Andalucia's most picturesque and unspoilt white hill top villages, it is perched on one of the highest peaks in the Sierra de Tejeda national park and is known as the "Balcon de Axarquia". The village was of strategic importance during Moorish times and was one of the bases of Omar ben Hafsun, at the highest point of the village there are ruins of a Moorish castle.

You can feel transported back in time as the farmers still harvest the almonds, olives, grapes and raisins as their forefathers did before. The village remains unspoilt and is a fascinating place to explore, with its spectacular views, and is ideal to pop to for an excellent lazy lunch. On the 25/26/27 August there is a local fiesta with music, dancing and fireworks which sees the whole village celebrating, and they welcome everyone to come and join in, so this is a must for people who like sampling the local culture.

Velez Malaga is a typical Spanish Town with an old quarter dating back to Moorish occupation. It has an old castle La Fortaleza, of which a restored tower remains, set in pretty gardens. There are also two interesting old churches. The town has an excellent municipal market every day except Sunday, selling local produce, fish meat, vegetables and fruit. There is also a wide range of modern shops and supermarkets.

"Great place, super service, spectacular view!"

We spent a wonderful fortnight here and were blown away by the villa and its beautiful views. Sally and Paul really look after the property and live nearby but are in no way intrusive. The position of the property makes it feel wonderfully secluded and it was very peaceful. Our young son loved watching the swallows swooping! We found it easy to get to the villa and the surrounding area. We had a couple of great trips to the beaches at Nerja (approx 40 mins away) but the villa is so lovely, we spent most of our time there. The villa has everything you need and the standard of presentation was first class. A real gem!! We have already booked for next summer!

Having spent two weeks at this lovely villa, waking up every morning to wonderful views of the mountains, an excellent place to chill out and relax.

"Perfect location and perfect villa quality"

A great location. Villa quality excellent. Great views down the valley.
Sun in the right direction all day.
Small minor things - bar b que small and grill height not adjustable.
Long stair in villa would benefit from a hand rail.

Many thanks for reviewing our villa, we always appreciate feedback as it helps us to improve improve the villa in any way we can to make it an even more enjoyable experience for our guests. The handrail on the stairs is on our to do list for this winter. The BBQ is a family sized Kettle Webber which everyone has found perfectly adequate for up to 6 people. Once again many thanks for your feedback.

"Wonderful villa in perfect countryside location"

If you are looking for a peaceful location with a top quality Spanish villa, then this is it. Beautifully kept with all home comforts supplied, it has a lovely pool and terrace in its own private surroundings with stunning views across the countryside and mountains. A ten minute drive takes you to a local village where you will find two small supermarket's, two or three restaurants and a bank and pharmacy. Or you can drive half an hour to find numerous restaurants or shops selling local fresh fish, meats and wine to take back and cook at the villa, eat on the terrace and watch the sun go down. There is also a hypermarket you pass on the road from the airport. The friendly owners are nearby and are very helpful if you require local info. We enjoyed drives to beaches, chilling by the pool and local walks through the countryside. We have been several times to this villa and it never disappoints. L and R Surrey.

"This villa is highly recomended"

We have rented several villas in Andalucia over the years but when we first arrived in Casa Guisante Del Olor we knew we didnt need to look elsewhere anymore as this is the perfect place to stay if you want a quiet and relaxing holiday. The villa is spotless thanks to Paul and Sally (the owners) they are really looking after it in the best way and make you feel very welcome. The kitchen have got everything you need and both bathroom and shower are spacecious and lovely..Malaga is about 1 hour away and a nice town to explore and lots of shops and restaurants.Nerja, small town, is 30 minutes away, also with lots of nice restaurants and shops. The beach is in Torre del Mar about 15 minutes away and thats where you find Euroski a big shoppingsenter.
the last 4 years we have been renting this villa twice a year and are looking forward to be back again this September. We often have friends/family visiting and everybody enjoys themselves young or old.

"A hidden gem in the Andalucian mountains...."

We stayed at Casa Guisante de Olor for a week in June 11 and could not have wished for better. The villa is just fabulous, with a view to die for. When we arrived, the owners, Sally and Paul were there to meet us and show us round. The villa has clearly been built to a high spec and every room is tastefully decorated, immaculately clean and extremely well equipped. The terrace and swimming pool are perfect for lazy days in the sun and if you enjoy cooking there is really no need to go anywhere else to eat - everything is provided to create your own restaurant under the covered terrace with that 5-star view. In fact the only time we ventured out was to re-stock on wine! Without doubt, for a couple looking for a place to chill out and relax in perfect, quiet surroundings, you will not be disappointed. For sure, we will return sometime soon.
