Home description
The cottage has been newly built and furnished to a very high standard. High oak beamed ceilings, comfortable double/twin bedroom with en suite bathroom (with jet shower). The kitchen is fitted with integral fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine/tumble dryer and oven/hob. Rose Cottage is located next door to our hotel, where you will be able to book a lunch or evening meal in our licensed restaurant. If you don’t fancy cooking breakfast, why not join our guests for a full English Breakfast (for a small extra charge).
We have a cot and highchair available, at no extra charge. The comfortable sofa in the lounge, opens out to a kingsize sofabed. This offers a very convenient option for small families, which we have accommodated many times.
We are ideally located for a relaxing holiday. We are only 1½ miles, from a 95 mile stretch of coastline between Exmouth in East Devon and Swanage in Dorset, which has been declared a World Heritage Site, because of its wealth of prehistoric remains. The Jurassic Coast, as it is known, is considered to be the only place in the world displaying unbroken evidence of 185 million years of evolution. The coastline has many miles of picturesque footpaths. To the West of Branscombe, Beer and Sidmouth and to the East is the historic town of Lyme Regis.

The West Country / Devon region
We are situated in a beautiful part of the West Country. We are only 2 miles from the Coast which is now part of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast Path. There are 9 golf courses with a 15 mile radius. The Victorian Towns of Lyme Regis (famous for the French Lieutenants Women film and Cobb Harbour) and Sidmouth are only 7 miles away (east and west). We have beaches as close as 2 miles away. The Seaton Tramway goes through Colyford enroute from Seaton to Colyton.
We are perfectly situated between Sidmouth and Lyme Regis the Axe Valley and surrounding area of outstanding natural beauty certainly offers plenty for every member of your family to do. Our historic River Axe meets the sea at Lyme Bay, now part of the designated World Heritage Site and known as the Jurassic Coast.
There is wide variety of scenery and activities for you to do. Local activities include walking, cycling, wildlife, fishing, boating, arts, country crafts, local history or pottering aroun. Simply the surroundings are so lovely and you will find your holiday so relaxing.
Colyton / Colyford area
Colyford is a village on the A3052 Lyme Regis to Exeter road, situated mid-way between Lyme Regis and Sidmouth. Seaton is 2km. away on the coast and Colyton 1km. further inland. Colyford was formerly an Ancient Borough of long-standing and still elects a Mayor. Colyford is a linear village, and on the current Ordnance Survey maps it is still possible to make out the original narrow burgage plots running back from the main road.
Another of the attractions of the village is the Tramway that runs along the discontinued railway branch line from Seaton to Colyton. Very popular with tourists, the Tramway runs a regular service from Spring to Autumn.
How to get there
WHY NOT CUT OUT THE EXTRA LONG BUSY DRIVE TO CORNWALL. STOP HERE IN BEAUTIFUL EAST DEVON. WE ARE LOCATED IN AN AREA OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY. ONLY 2 MILES FROM THE JURASSIC HERITAGE COASTLINE.
Our local airport, Exeter, is only 25 miles away (30 minutes driving time). The budget Airline FlyBe operates in and out of this airport. Southampton is another local airport, 60 miles away, RyanAir operates in and out of airport and connects with many European airports.
Our nearest railway station is at Axminster, which is on the Waterloo (London) to Exeter line.
Our nearest ferry ports are at Weymouth (connecting with France) and Plymouth (connecting with France and Northern Spain).

Further details indoors: The cottage was only built in 2007. Although it has been built with traditional features, such as oak beams and floors, it does have modern facilities. The kitchen is equipped with oven and hob, integral diswasher and washing machine.
The en suite bathroom has underfloor heating and a large shower, and waist/chest jets.
Further details outdoors: All cottages hirers are able to use all hotel facilities. This includes an outside patio area, as well as our restaurant.
Conditions
A Booking Fee of £50 is required upon booking. The full amount is then due 4 weeks before arrival. Payment can be made by credit card over the phone.
