Accommodation

Daisy Cottage is a newly renovated 2 bedroom barn conversion. It is extremely well insulated keeping it cool in summer and warm in winter. The cottage faces south-west and so is in the sun for most of the day.

The ground floor provides a light and airy open-plan living area with a newly fitted kitchen, dining table and a lounge area with cosy wood burner. Full height windows extend the living space, opening out onto a south-facing patio and graveled courtyard that provide the perfect suntrap from which to enjoy a morning cup of tea or al-fresco dining. The modern bathroom includes a shower over the bath and under floor heating.

Upstairs there are two comfortable bedrooms with exposed beams and stripped wood floors, reflecting the character of the original building. The single bedroom has plenty of space for an additional folding bed and a cot that can be supplied on request.

Space for a folding bed and/or cot for additional infant in the single bedroom - please request when booking if required. Highchair and stair gate also available on request. Amenities

There is an excellent village shop in the village of Offwell and in Wilmington there is a thatched pub serving a range of local beers and good local food.

The market town of Honiton (4 miles) has a good range of local shops and a twice weekly street market. Similarly Axminster (7 miles), has a weekly market and boasts the Riverside Cottage shop. Colyton is a smaller town, with interesting little shops, including the award winning Colyton Butchers.

The entire area is rich with excellent country pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. We will be pleased to provide you with our recommendations.

The Roman city of Exeter with its beautiful cathedral and green, and Taunton, the county town of Somerset, are both approximately 18 miles distant. For shoppers, either of these offers a full range of High Street chain stores and individual shops.

Recreation

Daisy cottage is well situated for walkers with an excellent network of paths and tracks through the beautiful Devon countryside, many of which can be started from your own front door. The East Devon Way passes within a mile of the cottage, and the spectacular South West Coastal path is nearby. Slightly further afield, but within easy driving distance, are Dartmoor, Exmoor and the Blackdown Hills.

The coast is close at hand with the picturesque villages of Beer and Branscombe (6 miles), the Regency town of Sidmouth (12 miles), historic Lyme Regis (12 miles) and Seaton (6 miles).

At Colyton, there is the Seaton Tramway with vintage trams running to Seaton. Many other local attractions, gardens and National Trust properties are close at hand.

The Devon region

Devon is a rural county situated on the South West peninsular of England with a beautiful North and South coastline. Warmed by the gulf stream, Devon is personified by its mild climate, rolling countryside, lush pastures and grazing cows. For those seeking more drama, there is the dramatic scenery of Dartmoor, Exmoor and the North Devon Coast.

Colyton

Colyton is a small medieval country town nestling in the Axe Valley with the babbling River Coly flowing through its heart. When passing through you will feel impelled to stop, attracted by its wealth of tiny streets, interesting houses from medieval to modern and fascinating choice of shops, galleries and pubs. Colyton boasts one of the prettiest stations in East Devon with trams regularly departing to the Jurassic Coast town of Seaton, just three miles away along the stunning Axe Estuary.

The countryside around is completely unspoilt and as you drive or walk around you will pass through small hamlets and villages such as Northleigh and Farway. Farms in these patrs are mainly Dairy, many of which are still family run and often date back hundreds of years.

The Jurassic coast is close at hand with small town of Seaton, picturesque villages of Beer and Branscombe, the Regency town of Sidmouth and historic Lyme Regis all being close at hand. For fossil hunters, the coast between Lyme Regis and Charmouth holds many treasures.
