The Stables, Holyford Farm Cottages, Colyford, Devon

Holyford Farm Cottages lies in an idyllic rural location along a no through country lane only 2 miles from the sea and nestling in the fold of a valley on the edge of Holyford Woods. The woodland is an area of peace and great natural beauty and is carpeted with bluebells in the spring, and right on your doorstep. The Stables is one of two holiday cottages are set in a very peaceful location within the grounds of the owners' home, a Grade II listed farmhouse.

The Stables forms the majority part of a converted Victorian coach house. The oldest part of the property, dating back to the 16th century, is Crispin Cottage. Attached to the owners' home which can sleep up to seven guests. The historic village of Colyford is nearby and has an excellent stores and Post Office, as well as an excellent foodie pub The Wheelwright. The town of Colyton, with the River Coly flowing through it, is a mile or so away. It has a variety of local shops, tea rooms and pubs, all offering good food. Nearby attractions include Seaton's Tramway, the fishing village of Beer and its famous caves, the beach at Branscombe, the Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth and Crealy Adventure Park a little further towards Exeter. The city is just over 20 miles away. River Cottage HQ and its cafe in Axminster are both only 6 miles away, as is the seaside resort of Lyme Regis with its famous Cobb harbour. It has an area of sandy beach and offers a variety of water sports, as well as a large number of restaurants, tea rooms, pubs and exclusive gift shops. Beach 2 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

The region offers a unique and diverse landscape to discover and explore. From the wild Dartmoor & Exmoor to the well known South West Coast Path and the many trails, footpaths, trails and bridleways makes this part of the country a must for visitors from home and abroad who return again and again.

Colyton

East Devon is a beautiful part of the county and recognised as being of outstanding natural beauty, the Jurassic Coastline has been recognised as the countries only World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is an attraction in its own right. The small Victorian seaside town of Seaton has a mile long beach which is perfect for bathing. The river Axe is a wildlife haven and has a well organised series of hides to observe the birds feeding on the mudflats and salt marshes between tides. An open top tram runs regularly from Seaton to Colyton stopping at Colyford and offers the visitor a real flavour of the Axe Valley. There are golf courses at Axe Cliff and Lyme Regis many historic houses including National Trust properties within a short drive.
