Home description
The 3 star Residence is a 600m walk to Coly, the nearest village, and 3 kilometres from St Amand de Coly, considered one of France’s most picturesque villages, with its classic ochre stone buildings and winding cobbled streets. The residence extends over 20 hectares of woodland, creating a peaceful, tranquil base from which to explore this fascinating region. The residence Cottages du Lac was built like a small hamlet of 74 units made up of chalets that sleep 4/6 and 6/8 persons and Cottages that sleep 4/6 and 6/8 persons. Some of the wooden chalets are built on stilts, in a prime position on the edge of the lake, with their verandas stretching out over the water. What better place to relax over an ice cool beer or a glass of wine and take in the sounds of nature which surrounds you? And if you wish, you can take breakfast on the terrace of the reception chalet, overlooking the lake.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region
This development is located in an excellent position for visiting many of the region’s historic and cultural landmarks and is easily accessible by motorway, being only 10 minutes form the nearest exit. It is approximately 10km from the village of Nontron, in the Dordogne region, and approximately 55 km from Perigueux. The green hills of this region abound in lakes, rivers and beautiful landscapes. The major Stone Age sites of south-western France are nearby.Coly is in the Perigord Noir, in the Dordogne region which is divided into 4 parts: The Périgord Vert (green) is named for the verdant hills around the centre, Nontron, many rivers crisscross this section. The Périgord Blanc (white) is so named because of the lanscape's exposed limestone, which has been used for building materials in the cities. The Périgord Pourpre (purple) is, as you might expect, a wine region. Wines take the names of the towns on the map, Bergerac and Monbazillac. The Périgord Noir (black) is probably of the most interest to the traveller. It is here that the underground is laced with prehistoric painted and engraved caves--Over 150 sites line the Vézère river alone. The region is dark with trees, especially walnuts, for which it is famous, as well as being known for its black truffles. The centre of the study of the region's prehistory is here as well, in the new National Museum of Prehistory perched on a cliff in the village of Les-Eyzies-de-Tayac The towns of Perigueux, Brive and Sarlat are only half an hour drive away.
Coly area
The gastronomy and traditions of the Dordogne are highly renowned. Périgueux the capital town of the Perigord and the cultural heart of the Dordogne, is an hospitable little town with a lively Wednesday and Saturday market, a veritable feast of restaurants and cafés, and a tranquil rural setting, so typical of the region. West of Perigueux is Ribérac where flowers, wine and fresh farm produce at the Friday morning market are a highlight in this gently-paced little town. Lavender fields, lake fishing, horse riding and river kayaking are among the attractions in the environs of Sarlat. Medieval Sarlat itself is a maze of ancient and arcaded lanes, whose ochre stone buldings have now been declared a living museum. Among the notables are the Cathedrale St. Sacerdos and the Lanterne des Morts tower. The Saturday morning market in the Place de la Liberté is a must. Other beautiful regions and wine growing areas are within easy reach such as The Lot, Quercy, Correze, Limousin and Charente. In Terrasson, which is 7km away there is river canoeing, horse riding, a quad bike circuit, a treetop adventure park, as well as lots of pathways and tracks for walking and cycling.
