A lovely room with French window and balcony with views over the lake. A top quality super king sized (6ft) bed made up with Egyptian cotton sheets, sumptuous pillows and goose down duvets await your nightly repose. A modern designer bathroom with bath, bidet, basin and loo and big fluffy towels and plenty of storage for all your toiletries. A TV and plenty of hanging space and drawers.
Guest bedroom,with French windows opening onto the balcony, this guest bedroom has a king sized (5ft) double bed. Again a quality bed and bed linen are provided from John Lewis. The separate guest bathroom has large shower, stylish basin, loo and again lots of storage. There is also a top quality Bosch washing machine. The guest bedroom is a little smaller (3.05m x 3.0m) than the master bedroom and does not have a separate air conditioning unit although it can benefit from the main unit in the living area.
This comfortable room features a massive Multiyork sofa and really comfortable leather chairs arranged in front of a huge set of French windows with stunning views over the lake and mountains. Another set of French windows open onto a large terrace and the upper garden. The living room has a large screen television & DVD with satellite English channels including BBC 1, BBC2, ITV1, ITV2, Film 4 and many more. There is a library of DVD movies.
The open plan kitchen is a chef’s delight. A 5 ring gas hob with extractor hood, electric oven, microwave, fridge and freezer, dishwasher and quality utensils and saucepans are complimented by beautiful Italian granite on the work surfaces and large breakfast bar/island unit. Opening from the living room French windows, the apartment features a generous 12 m2 terrace with a large traditional wooden table and chairs for all your al fresco dining. The terrace is fitted with large sun shades to ward off the midday heat and is surrounded by the upper garden which adds a further 60 m2 of outside space. The garden is planted with large shrubs, a box hedge and climbing roses and there is a private gate onto some steps leading to the village. There is an automatic watering system.
The lower garden, which is reached by steps from the upper garden, runs all along the front of the apartment at the basement level and features patio areas, table, chairs, umbrellas, teak sun loungers and a small heated swimming pool which will guarantees that the temperature never drops below 70°F (21°C) although in summer the pool is usually nearer 80°F.
"The small pool is 4.5m by 2.5m and a uniform 1.1m depth and Mediterranean steps at one end; so getting in is easy. There is a powerful water pump which creates a current against which you can swim if you feeling particularly energetic. It provides a refreshing dip and light exercise but is not a play area."

This rate includes all gas, water and electricity including pool heating (minimum 21 degrees centigrade) and air conditioning units in the living room/kitchen and master bedroom plus High Speed internet connection and weekly cleaning/servicing of the swimming poool.
A 30% deposit secures the booking and is non-refundable and the remainder of the rent is payable 8 weeks prior to the start of the rental period
The Lombardy / Lake Como Area region
Colonno, which is named after an ancient Greek settlement, remains a traditional Italian lakeside village and it situated 3 km north of Argegno and immediately adjacent to Sala Comacina, with Ossuccio, Lenno and Menaggio a few kilometres further north. It is 20 minutes from the lovely historic city of Como and about one hour to Milan airports (Malpensa and Linate) and the stylish metropolis itself. Como is one of Italy’s most important centres for the production of silk.
The Colonno area
The village of Colonno itself has a very small village shop (bread,milk and basics), two bars and the Trattoria Chegal which although modest looking is acknowledged as one of the best restaurants for fresh lake fish in the area. It has a charming terrace overlooking the lake.
The restaurant is 500 meters from the apartment with a pleasant walk through the village and down some steps - very good for the digestion on the way back.
A much wider choice of bars and restaurants is available in Argegno which is 4 minutes away by car. Bar Ristorante Barchetta is particularly good. Argegno also has banks with cash machine, pharmacy, pastry shop and a wonderful little bakery. 2 km further south towards Brienno finds the Crotti dei Plantini, with a beautiful lake side terrace and views to die for. It has been operating as a restaurant for 150 years and in the same family for 40 and serves superlative food.
At about the same distance going north, the next village Sala Comacina boasts two excellent restaurants, La Bleu Taverna and Locanda La Tirlindana, both with beautiful views of the lake and in the Isola Comacina is situated the famous Locanda dell'Isola Comacina which has been serving the same set menu of 6/7 courses for over 60 years. The place is a lake institution and a visit is a must. Small boats run regularly from the village to the island or you can get a ferry from Argegno.
For more extensive shopping including a good quality Supermarket (SASA) you need to visit Lenno which is 10 minutes away by car (5.2km). Lenno also has an amazing hardware store that sells almost everything you could possibly need as well as banks, florist, haberdashery, pharmacy and a truly excellent pizza restaurant , Il Cris.
The coastal strip from Argegno to Menaggio enjoys a unique sub-tropical microclimate with mild winters and an average summer temperature of 29 degrees C, thus escaping the excessive heat of Milan and elsewhere. It is the only area on Lake Como where you will see olives, banana trees and bougainvillea growing. This is largely due to the south east facing coastline which is unique to this area and the one further south from Cernobbio to Laglio (where George Clooney has his villa) and makes these lakeside areas the most sought after on Lake Como.
Lake Como is blessed with some truly beautiful Italian Villas and stunning gardens. The famous Villas Balbianello and Carlotta are 10 minutes away and offer a genuinely memorable visit

Lake Como is easily accessible by air, road and rail, which makes it an ideal location for holidays, weekends and short breaks.
Various airports and airlines serve the Milan/Como area as follows:
Milan Linate - approx. 1 hour from Como town – airlines include Alitalia, BA, Easyjet. There is a bus service into central Milan from where you can pick up a train to Como.
Milan Malpensa - slightly nearer than Linate and just 40 minutes from Como town - airlines include Alitalia, Lufthansa, KLM, BA. There is a twice-daily direct bus service to Como and along the lakeside as far as Menaggio. There is also a train station at the airport or buses into central Milan.
Milan Bergamo – approx. 1 hour 15 mins from Como town - airlines include Ryan Air. There is a bus service to Bergamo rail station, from where you can get trains to Milan and Como.
And further away, but still accessible, Verona, Venice and Turin.

Depending on where you are staying on the Lake, there are 2 train stations in Como, a main station Como S. Giovanni, with a regular bus service to all parts of the lake and a smaller one, Como Nord Lago, which is directly by the lakeside and links in with ferry timetables. For other parts of the lake, you can get trains to Varenna, from where you can link into ferry timetables.
It is also possible to get trains from all over Italy to Como, via Milan bringing Genoa, Venice, Florence, Pisa and many other cities within easy reach.
