About the home

Enjoy the olde worlde of Colonno overlooking beautiful Lake Como and with panoramic views of the lake.

The home is ideally situated to access the whole lake, just 2 minutes drive to the ferry stop which reaches down to Como and across to Bellagio and just a short journey to the majestic gardens of Villa Carlotta
and Villa Balbianello, as seen in the 2006 Casino Royale 007 film.

Holidaying here in Lake Como you will find yourselves in good company as a certain Mr Clooney has a home
less than 15 minutes away where David Beckham is currently (2009) residing to ease the strain of his recent move to Milan!

The apartment has been recently renovated (2009) and is a top floor with private lake view balcony and garden.The apartment has a beautifully appointed throughout and sleeps up to 6 guests

Lake Como is situated within Lombardy home also to Milan the fashion capitol of the world, Bergamo with its majestic squares & medieval churches & Monza for grand prix lovers! However if you are searching for something more serene Lake Como is a haven for tranquillity.For years young & old have visited Lake Como and returned home refreshed, invigorated and bewitched by its unparalleled beauty.
Football in Milan (1 hr drive or available by public transport) AC Milan and Inter Milan.
Switzerland (30 mins to border) home of Fox town for cut price designer fashion, Lake Lugano and San Moritz for memorable drives and skiing!

The Colonno area

For those who just wish to take in the sun and relax or just go for a lazy stroll to walk of that lunchtime gelato then Lake Como offers the perfect holiday to achieve a relaxing chill out break.

Colonno is a traditional Italian lakeside village and it situated 5 mins north of Argegno and located next to Sala Comacina (famed for the island of Comacina) with Lenno and Menaggio a few kilometres further north. 40 minutes from Como and about one hour to Milan airports (Malpensa and Linate) and Milan for fashion, food, football and Formula one (Monza).

The apartment is situated at the beginning of the famous Greenway di Lago, a beautiful walk through the lakeside villages from Colonno to Menaggio. For the really energetic a 2 ½ hour hike will take you to the peak of the Alpe di Colonno at 1319 metres above sea level.

The coastal strip from Argegno to Menaggio enjoys a unique sub-tropical micro climate with mild winters and an average summer temperature of 29 degrees , little wonder George Clooney has his villa about 15 minutes drive from the home and makes these lakeside areas arguably the most sought after on Lake Como.

The village of Argegno is only a 3 minutes away with lake, ferry, bus. Bank, mini market, fruit & veg shop, geletaria all available here in the village.

Take the funicular close to the village for superb lake and mountain views!
Shingle beach for sunbathing plus mountaineering in near by val d'intelvi for the more adventurous!

However for holidaymakers who like to explore there is plenty of variation on offer from visiting medieval churches to browsing at the many Italian boutiques in nearby Como town famed for it's silk and leather, talking a boat ride for a spot of dinner on one of the many lakeside villages to climbing the mountains high above the lake! Choose from Villa Carlotta, 15 minutes from the apartment with it's acres of beautiful lake facing gardens, Villa Balbinello in Lenno (15 minutes drive)for romance and relaxation (James Bond seemed to favour the latter in the recent Casino Royale production filmed here in 2006)
Bellagio never fails to disappoint and offers a great excuse to take the water ferry across the lake. Marvel at it's picturesque promontories, cobbled streets and fine art shops all with lake views par excellence.
Drive down to Cernobbio for an idyllic Sunday afternoon stroll. Menaggio, with it's pretty palm lined walkways it another pretty lake village worth exploring.
