Solana is a sophisticated, contemporary 'boutique' bed & breakfast with stunning bay views and affordable prices. An intimate and peaceful setting Solana is nestled on the hillside with luscious, tropical gardens, plenty of privacy and an expansive view from our infinity pool.

Solana has six suites offering beautiful bay views, each with a private bath. Large vanities, spacious closets with smart wood details and open air showers complement each suite. Each suite feels like it's own private oasis with elegantly designed built-in's and an uncluttered feel.

Every detail has been carefully overseen, from the top of the line onyx fixtures and equipale leather chairs down to the natural coco mats greeting you at the entrance to each suite. Soft, linen-like neutral fabrics adorn all windows and are accented by hand woven mexican bedcoverings and pillows. Spend the day lounging or reading lazily in your private hammock during the noonday heat under the sun-dappled private veranda shaded by palapa roof. In the evening enjoy the romantic outdoor bar for drinks at sunset--just an arm's length away from the inviting infinity pool overlooking the bay.

Included in Solana's tariff is a complementary breakfast featuring both mexican and international selections. An honor bar will keep you hydrated throughout the day. In the evening drinks and a bar menu are available during our evening cocktail hour. Full dinners can be arranged with advanced notice.

The Pacific Coast region

Zihuatanejo is a small beach town located on the Pacific coast of Mexico. It is a place where the traveler can find an authentic Mexican fishing village experience together with the modern amenities that most require. Delicious international fusion restaurants coexist with traditional mexican home cooking. The town has large grocery stores, medical clinics and many interesting shops to browse.

Every year the area hosts events such as the International Zihuatanejo Guitar festival and Sailfest, a fundraiser for a non-profit, as well as many sporting, surfing & triathalon events. Every Sunday everyone heads down to La Cancha (the basketball court) to watch a local dance class performance, a basketball game, traditional or not so traditional mexican music or whatever presentation the town dreams up.

Within a 45 minute drive to the north or south, many interesting locations can be found. The pre-hispanic ruins of La Chole, the glitzy beach resort of Ixtapa with highrise hotels, discos and movie theaters, the laid back surfing meccas of Troncones and Saladita are just a few of these destinations.

The weather year round is warm, inviting and typically sunny. Our green season coincides with the summer months of July-October but, unless a tropical storm is nearby, the rain generally falls at night and allows dry days to explore and sightsee.

Colonia La Ropa

Solana is located hillside in a tranquil residential section of Zihuatanejo. We are a 5 minute cab ride from La Ropa Beach. If you feel like walking, the beach is a 15-20 minute walk downhill. We are surrounded by lush tropical jungle and wake every morning to the sounds of the birds in the tropical forest. Our closest beaches are Playa La Ropa and Playa Las Gatas.

Playa Las Gatas can be reached via a steep footpath. Playa La Ropa can be reached via taxi or by foot. Both offer a multitude of water sports and typically calm waters. Snorkeling is available at Playa Las Gatas. Small hobie cats, stand up paddleboards and kayaks can be rented at Playa La Ropa. Many restaurants are found lining both beaches. The seafood available is second to none.

The town of Zihuatanejo is a short cab ride away or, alternately, walk to Playa La Ropa and take a local minibus. Every day here is an adventure and one well worth experiencing!
