The Mallorca/Majorca region
Mallorca - The largest and most popular of the Balleric islands, Mallorca is set in the Mediterranean Sea off the east coast of mainland Spain. In both aesthetics and atmosphere the beautiful island of Mallorca is somewhat of a contrast. This contrast makes for an irresistible natural beauty. While the North offers dramatic mountains and rugged landscape the south levels out to pine-covered hills and windmill-dotted plains.
Thanks to its well-established tourist trade, mallorca offers a wide range of activities and excursions. Activities include golf courses, safari parks, adventure playgrounds, nature trails, sea life centres and aqua parks. Popular sports on the island also include cycling, trekking swimming, sailing and waterskiing. With such a wide variety it's safe to say 'there's something for everyone!
Despite great popularity and development, Majorca's coastline remains an astonishingly beautiful place with secluded coves of soft golden sands.
The size of the island means that you are able to sample all of its beauty without having to spend the whole day in the car!
Whether you want to sun yourself in peace and quiet or live it up in the hot spots until the early hours, Majorca is just the resort for you.
The Colonia de Sant Pere / Bay of Alcudia area
Colonia is located in the north-east of the island on the edge of the Rustica (National Trust land) with stunning views of the mountains and Bay of Alcudia. The beach is small, safe and suitable for the little ones. The small marina proffers a selection of boats from fishing vessels to luxury yachts. There are nineteen superb restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk of the villa. These offer a wide selection of local food, fish being a speciality, as well as Italian, an Argentinian steak house, and European food, with alfresco dining along the sea front.
Relax in this charming small quiet
village which boasts no hotels, or enjoy the delights of the local resorts.
Colonia is close to all the resorts along the east coast where night life and designer shops abound. To the north-west is the bay of Pollensa and the famous hotel at Formentor. Arta is the closest town with many historic buildings, shops and restaurants.
Close to Colonia are six golf clubs including Pula, home of the Mallorca Classic and Alcanada, at the north-west end of the Bay of Alcudia, voted the best course on the island by the Peugeot Golf Guide. Add to the list water sports, horse riding, walking and cycling and there is something for everyone.
In or out of season there is plenty to occupy the discerning visitor. There are numerous festivals, the spring almond blossom is something to behold and one can explore the magnificent mountains and historic buildings.

Short break with family for a chill out time. Great setting and the Villa is very well equipped. The kids enjoyed the games station, and kept them quiet while me and my partner relaxed in the hot tub. Good selection of local bars and the beach is a very short walk. All in all a very nice place to stay, with reasonable charges, and good location to explore the north. Will definately be back. |
