The Mallorca/Majorca region
Mallorca - The largest and most popular of the Balleric islands, Mallorca is set in the Mediterranean Sea off the east coast of mainland Spain. In both aesthetics and atmosphere the beautiful island of Mallorca is somewhat of a contrast. This contrast makes for an irresistible natural beauty. While the North offers dramatic mountains and rugged landscape the south levels out to pine-covered hills and windmill-dotted plains.
Thanks to its well-established tourist trade, mallorca offers a wide range of activities and excursions. Activities include golf courses, safari parks, adventure playgrounds, nature trails, sea life centres and aqua parks. Popular sports on the island also include cycling, trekking swimming, sailing and waterskiing. With such a wide variety it’s safe to say ‘there’s something for everyone!
Despite great popularity and development, Majorca’s coastline remains an astonishingly beautiful place with secluded coves of soft golden sands.
The size of the island means that you are able to sample all of its beauty without having to spend the whole day in the car!
Whether you want to sun yourself in peace and quiet or live it up in the hot spots until the early hours, Majorca is just the resort for you.
Colonia de Sant Pere / Bay of Alcudia area
Colonia is located in the north-east of the island on the edge of the Rustica (National Trust land) with stunning views of the mountains and Bay of Alcudia. The beach is small, safe and suitable for the little ones. The small marina proffers a selection of boats from fishing vessels to luxury yachts. There are nineteen superb restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk of the villa. These offer a wide selection of local food, fish being a speciality, as well as Italian, an Argentinian steak house, and European food, with alfresco dining along the sea front.
Relax in this charming small quiet village which boasts no hotels, or enjoy the delights of the local resorts.
Colonia is close to all the resorts along the east coast where night life and designer shops abound. To the north-west is the bay of Pollensa and the famous hotel at Formentor. Arta is the closest town with many historic buildings, shops and restaurants.
Close to Colonia are six golf clubs including Pula, home of the Mallorca Classic and Alcanada, at the north-west end of the Bay of Alcudia, voted the best course on the island by the Peugeot Golf Guide. Add to the list water sports, horse riding, walking and cycling and there is something for everyone.
In or out of season there is plenty to occupy the discerning visitor. There are numerous festivals, the spring almond blossom is something to behold and one can explore the magnificent mountains and historic buildings.

Guestbook for 'La Vista' (10 the Thorns)
We had a very nice weeks break in Janurary when the Blessing of the Animals Festival was on. La Vista was well located in the village with off street parking. La Vista was very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and dining area. The living room was also well equipped with both Air Con/Heating, a large flat screen and a full Sky package. The large sofa was very large and comfortable. Upstairs the master bedroom with on-suite and the other two bedrooms were just next to the shower room again with Air Con/Heating and comfortable beds. From the large roof terrace you could see the sea and even in January enjoy the afternoon sun. With stairs to all three levels I would not recommend it for disabled but for a family or adults looking for a quite break. There is a small beach, many nice places to eat at, a bank, a baker for your morning bread, small shops and a nice marina. Peter & Yvonne Rothbury UK
