Home description
Casa Colonica is a charming, rustic Le Marche farmhouse, built in the local style and stone. The house is situated 15 minutes walk from the ancient hilltop village of Colmurano, although it is set on its own, with plenty of privacy. The property has its own private 8 metre pool, sun and shaded terraces, and stunning views of the Appenines. The house, complete with original beamed ceilings and brick floors, sleeps up to 10, with four bedrooms, two bathrooms (one en-suite) and 2 large reception rooms.
We now do changeovers on Wednesdays - this is because Ryan Air flights to Ancona and Pescara are around 50% cheaper on Wednesdays compared to Saturdays, so this represents a chance for our customers to save a lot of money on flights! If this is a problem for you, please let us know and we will see if we can arrange for a Saturday changeover (we will certainly be able to do this for the week of the spring half-term).

The Marche / Abruzzo / Marche region
Marche is often described as 'Tuscany without the tourists'. The beautiful rolling foothills of the Appennine mountains make for a fantastically relaxing holiday!
Colmurano area
The house is 5 minutes drive from Urbisaglia, an ancient Roman settlement with great archaeological interest. The hotspring town of Sanarno is about 25 minutes drive, as is Macerata, where there is a world famous open-air opera festival each August. Although Colmurano is a small village, the community is very active and holds several annual festivals - including an international buskers festival in mid-july. Search for "colmurano festival" on google for more information.
How to get there
Ancona is the nearest airport, about 55 minutes away. Other options include Pescara and Rimini, both about 1.5 hours drive. Rome is 3.5 hours drive, Bologna is 2.5-3 hours drive. If you are coming from Ancona we can arrange to have you collected from the airport.

The kitchen is equipped with gas hob and oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. There are three mountain bikes are available for guests use. The house also has an additional fold-up single bed.
Further details outdoors: Outside the house, there is 8 metre swimming pool (1.2 metres deep) with sun terrace & BBQ, and shaded terracing on one side of the house, - ideal for breakfast or dinner alfresco! The house itself is about 100 years old. It has exposed beamed ceilings throughout, with brick or stone floors.
The external walls of the house are very thick, so the interior stays cool even in the heat of the day. A Baby-sitting service is available for guests on an as-needed basis. We can also arrange for a local restaurateur to come to the house and cook a traditional Italian banquet for your party, if required - and he even does the washing up!

Guestbook
The holiday was tremendous and your house is sheer heaven. Gareth wanted to buy it on the spot but I can't imagine your ever getting rid of it. You have certainly found a little piece of heaven! There can't be many swimming pools where you turn a corner to be greeted by a view like that. Even preparing scripts was a delight at 6.00 a.m. when you could look out on those hills,- and you never felt a lonely worker with the small tractors going round and round from dawn till dusk ploughing those precipices. As for the restaurant in Loro that you recommended,- well, it was food to die for and our first experience after much searching on previous visits of truly magnificent local cooking. I don't know why I'm telling you all this when you clearly know it all too well but we did appreciate your very helpful notes that made the holiday at your lovely house even more memorable.
