Casa Zarza is an old cottage sympathetically and fully restored in a rustic style, situated near the centre of the historic village of Colmenar.
Views of the village and surrounding countryside can be enjoyed from the house and terraces.
The property has 2 bedrooms (1 twin and 1 double with queen-size bed) with new, quality mattresses and bedding. Each bedroom is equipped with wardrobes, chests of drawers and bedside lighting. The master bedroom also features a balcony providing a spectacular view of the church and ermita (convent).
The salon is equipped with 2 sofas, a coffee table, Spanish & some free-to-air UK satellite TV, including Sky News.
The fitted kitchen incorporates a refrigerator, electric oven and gas hob. A microwave oven, kettle & toaster are also provided, together with cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery & glassware.
The bathroom comprises a shower, handbasin and WC.
Outside is an elevated terrace and ground level patio together with a private walled garden with a large variety of plants providing year-round interest.
At the patio/garden level is a utility room complete with automatic washing machine, handbasin & WC and a storage room.
For guests visiting during winter months, comfort is assured by the provision of a wood-burning stove, gas & electric heaters and electric underblankets on all beds.

There is a terrace on the main living level at the rear of the house. A short flight of stairs leads down to a patio, garden, utility/laundry room and storage room.
The municipal open-air swimming pool, open from June to September, is a 5-minute walk away.
We have stated that the property is not suitable for children under 5, chiefly due to the open staircase visible in the photograph of the salon and a similar one leading down to the garden. There is a removable stairguard, however, and children are welcome, so we invite potential guests to decide for themselves whether the stairs would pose any risk to young children.
You may smoke outside on the terrace but please do not smoke inside.
The property is located close to the centre of the village, so complete silence cannot be assured. Guests can expect to hear church bells and the occasional cockerel crowing.
The Andalucia region
Colmenar, the capital of the Montes de Málaga is 30km north of the city of Málaga and 42km from Málaga airport.
Seville, Granada & Córdoba are easily accessible in 2 hours or less by road. Should you prefer, these and other historic towns in Andalucia are also served by excellent bus and rail networks.
There is a fine selection of bars and restaurants in Colmenar, so whether you are just looking for a tapa and a cold Spanish beer or want to enjoy local & international cuisine, you are sure to find somewhere to your taste.
Colmenar is predominantly an agricultural town, the principal activities being the production of olives, almonds and dairy products. The rolling landscape dotted with olive and almond groves framed by the craggy mountains give a flavour of old Spain, and you are very likely to encounter goatherds leading their charges or mules carrying olives to market as they have done for centuries.
There is a good selection of shops in the village and on Thursdays you might enjoy a stroll through the weekly market, where you can buy fresh fruit & vegetables, clothing & shoes and confectionery.
