Absolutely gorgeous 350 year old Spanish farmhouse set in 37 hectares of almond and olive groves and wilderness which is part of the Montes de Malaga National Park. This eco-friendly farm also has its own vineyard (Shiraz grapes mainly) and is totally organic.
If you are looking for something totally authentic and yet close to major cities like Granada, Cordoba and Malaga, this is your place! It has a warm, cosy, homely feel and is set amongst breathtaking countryside. It has a salt water swimming pool and beautiful, fully-restored bedrooms and is full of atmosphere and charm.
Please note prices listed are per double bedroom per night. Please let us know what you are looking for so we can recommend the best rooms for your needs. Let us know how many rooms you would like ideally for us to send you a personalised quote. It may be possible to rent the whole house although we do live here and usually provide meals and other services to guests.
This is a safe and relaxing place to chill out and by far the best deal you are likely to find anywhere near here! Although we are close to Malaga - a vibrant, charming, spirited city, it feels like you are worlds away here. the whole house can be rented as well although we do live here and usually provide meals and other services to guests.
There are four double bedrooms (two with modern ensuite bathrooms with deep bath tubs and power showers) and a very comfortable single room so if you are wanting more than one room in this spacious farmhouse which can sleep 12 people, please contact us. Please contact us even if dates come up as fully booked as we may still have availability.
There are four double bedrooms with a mix of styles, all of which are extremely comfortable and clean and have plenty of space. They have lovingly restored wooden beams, large beds with top of the range mattresses and 100% cotton linen. Two also have the benefit of an additional private living room area with a writing desk and sofa as well as their own ensuite bathroom.
The bathrooms are large, airy and full of natural light and have deep sunken bath tubs and power showers.
Guests say they sleep like logs here. It is extremely tranquil with just birdsong to accompany your slumber.
There is a large, comfortable kitchen (with great coffee as well as lots of teas and infusions) internet, wifi, a landline, huge gas oven, enormous fireplace, salt water swimming pool, organic vegetable garden, and lots of great areas to walk in, including down to the river which is part of the property. There is a lending library with a wide variety of literature. You can do yoga, paint, write or whatever in our large, light workshop space or outside in the orchard, by the pool or anywhere you like.
We can do yoga with you if you like, have informal classes and can organise specific workshops as we are friends with a number of very experienced yoga teachers from a variety of traditions. There is also a weekly Tai Chi class in the village.
We can happily arrange pick ups from the airport and Malaga for those who are not travelling by car. We are 3 kilometres from the nearest town, Colmenar, which is very typically Andalusian with a good variety of bars and restaurants which we can happily recommend. We are half an hour from Malaga and the airport and 1.5 hours from Granada, 1 hour and a quarter from Cordoba, 1.5 hours from Seville - ideally situated for getting to know these amazing Andalusian cities and seeing the Alhambra, the Mezquita of Cordoba, El Torcal, a beautiful national park 25 minutes from here and the prehistoric dolmen caves near Antequera etc.
PLEASE NOTE, if you would like to go to the magnificent and not-to-missed Alhambra in Granada, please make sure to reserve tickets well in advance as they sell out very quickly.
Equally we are only 40 minutes from the beaches of the Mediterranean and the Costa de Sol and two hours from the more wild, white sandy Atlantic beaches of the beautiful Costa de Luz and Tarifa for windsurfing and partying.
We love preparing delicious, healthy food which can be traditionally Spanish, Asian-inspired and international and is principally vegetarian although we also love fresh, locally-sourced fish and organic, homegrown fruits and vegetables. Nacho, my husband, trained in catering at the renowned 'La Consula' where Hemingway lived and members of the Royal Family and other notables have sampled local delicacies.
Breakfast has a small additional cost and depending on what you would like (fruit salad, smoothies, a traditional Andaluz breakfast, eggs (poached, boiled or fried), porridge, cereal, toast and homemade marmalade etc. etc.) costs between €3 and €6. We can happily provide you with other meals as well depending on your preferences and lunch and supper costs between €6 and €15 depending on what appeals to you.
We are incredibly happy here and feel like we are living in a paradise and often have people come to stay who just revel in their time here. My Spanish husband has twenty years of experience in the catering and hotel industry as a maitre d' in 5 star hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants and is a fabulous (and very friendly) cook.
I am a very experienced and fully qualified therapist and can give massage and reflexology treatments in the treatment room here. Please let me know in advance if you'd like to book in a massage or reflexology session to make your stay here even more extra special!!
If you would like to organise your very own personalised retreat for yourself or a small number of people, we would be delighted to help put this together for you.
We love meeting new people and have been called excellent hosts. You can be as social or reclusive as you like - there is plenty of space to just hang out in, read, paint etc..
It is a beautiful retreat space and we often host workshops on yoga, meditation, photography, permaculture, Spanish language and cuisine, art, flower remedies, Body Harmony, Mayan cosmology etc. etc. as well as the occasional party. We won't force any of this on you, though, if that's not your bag...
Plenty of parking and if you are travelling without a car, there are good public transport connections from here and we can do airport pick-ups or pick-ups from Malaga if necessary. We speak Spanish, English, French and a have a good laugh trying our Italian and Portuguese.
Please note, guests often wish they could stay for an extra night to really be able to make the most of relaxing on the farm and getting to know the local area so please bear that in mind when you book.
Also, we have hosted many guests who are normally allergic to cats - we have three but they are very clean and no-one has had any problems with allergies.
We hope to see you! Enjoy and happy travels!

Our Holistic Therapies
If you would like to optimise your rest and relaxation during your stay or suffer from a particular illness or ailment, you may decide to book one or more of the treatments we offer. Below are descriptions of each.
Reflexology is the technique of applying gentle pressure to the reflexes on the feet and hands to induce a state of deep relaxation. It balances all the body systems and enables them to work more effectively. It stimulates the body's own healing processes and helps it return to a state of well-being.
Reflexology is highly effective and can be used on its own or alongside conventional medicine. It provides relief from a range of acute and chronic conditions including:
• Stress-related conditions
• Back pain and any other physical pain
• Sleep disorders
• Asthma and respiratory problems
• High/low blood pressure
• Digestive disorders
• Managing the side effects of medication such as chemotherapy or
• Hormonal problems/fertility issues
Treatments last 1.5 hours and cost €45.
Thai Yoga Massage
Thai Yoga Massage, considered by some to be "The King of Massages" for its thoroughness, is a unique and powerful massage therapy combining acupressure, gentle stretching, rocking, rhythmic compression, soft tissue manipulation and assisted yoga postures. An ancient healing tradition that has its roots in Ayurvedic medicine, yoga and Buddhism, it has evolved into a highly effective treatment in releasing blocked energy which can otherwise lead to pain, headaches and stress-related disorders and other illnesses.
Equally, for those who are symptom-free, it is an excellent way to soothe, release and comfort the body and mind with all the benefits - and more - of a yoga session yet with no experience of yoga necessary.
You can expect the following additional benefits:
- greater flexibility in the joints
- enhanced blood and lymph circulation
- better alignment of the body
- internal organs more stimulated to aid optimal functioning
- a sense of relaxation and well-being which re-energises the
body and mind.
Thai Yoga Massages ideally last a minimum of 1.5 -2 hours but shorter sessions can be organised for ½ an hour or 1 hour. They cost between €25 and €80.
We also offer:
• Culinary classes
The best of Spanish gastronomy and Andaluz cuisine
Cookery for optimum health
• Wine tasting, wine production and visits to local vineyards
Either informally with us or with experienced, highly qualified teachers
• Spanish language classes at an excellent local language school or weekend language immersion workshops on the farm with highly qualified and experienced native teachers.

• Hiking in 'El Torcal', a spectacular prehistoric limestone park full of extraordinary rock formations
• Visits to El Chorro gorge for swimming, kayaking, climbing or just taking in the amazing views

"A very pleasant stay in delightful surroundings with excellent hospitality"
We stayed with Marina and Nacho for seven nights in May and one of the purposes of our visit was for rest and recuperation. We were really happy to stay in the Farmhouse and we thoroughly enjoyed our rambles in the surrounding countryside. We were able to cool off in the swimming pool maintained so well by Nacho. To be free of newspapers and television for a few days was a pleasant change. We appreciated the welcome and kind hospitality from Marina and Nacho and everything was done so quietly with thought and care. Nothing was too much trouble from the comfort of our room to the delicious and memorable meals provided by Nacho and it was interesting and a pleasure to meet other guests. These guests came from Belgium, France, the United States, Estonia, China and Canada. We are from the British Isles and we shared our experiences when we met up in the evenings. As Marina commented, the World comes to Andalucía. Marina and Nacho are a talented pair and very responsive to the individual requirements of their guests whether they wished to enjoy the local scenery like us or travel further afield. They have a fund of information on where to visit for the adventurous. We have enjoyed quite a few holidays in the region and look forward to another visit to Marina and Nacho. Vicki and David

I am writing in February 2014 and so it is some eighteen months since staying with Marina and yet it is very easy to write as I remember our stay so well. What an escape from the madness that can be Malaga and surrounds, the peace and tranquility abounds. Marina was so friendly and so helpful we felt as if we had known her for years and she had invited us to stay. I would recommend any one to stay here in fact we are about to travel again and only yesterday said should we go back to Andalucia and see Marina!!
