The Midi-Pyrenees region

The hamlet of Montagnac is 25kms south of Brive-la-Gaillarde on the borders of the departments of the Dordogne, the Lot & the Corrèze . Located in the foothills of the Massif Central , Montagnac is surrounded by 6 of the "Plus Beaux VillBf the rolling green hills & valleys of the Lot & Dordogne rivers, to the arid Causse in the south .

The whole area is rich in places of historical interest . Rocamadour, clinging spectacularly to a cliff face, is one of the première historic sites in France. Collonges-la-Rouge is a fairytale village built entirely of red sandstone with towers & turrets on everybuilding. Mediaeval towns of Sarlat, Martel & Turenne, the cave & subterrainean lake at Padirac, the prehistoric cave drawings at Lascaux & Peche-Merle & the many chateaux along the Dordogne river . Within easy reach of the Bordeaux & Cahors wine regions as well as 2 local vineyards .

Collonges la Rouge

There are many things to do. In summer there are many fairs & fêtes & evening farmers markets where you can buy your food & have it cooked on the barbecue while people dance to the accordian - fantastic atmosphere , very French. There are water parks & lakes for windsurfing, sailing & rowing. Canoeing on the river .

The region is paradise for country lovers. There are many species of uncommon birds & wild flowers - we have orchids in the garden in May & June .

There's lots to see & do if that is what you like - or if you prefer to , you can just "chill out" and revel in the sights & sounds of the countryside
