A ground floor apartment in a quiet road just off the main town square Quality furnishings make it easy to relax in these bright and airy surroundings which are ideal for extended holidays or short breaks. Ideal as a base for travelling and exploring or for those who prefer a more gentler pace of live, relaxing in the sun with some of the local wine and superb food available from the local area. The apartment offers:

Set in the heart of Collioure, around 200 metres from the Market Place and 400 metres from the seafront. L’Origine is a place of calm amid the hustle and bustle of the busy town with its numerous cafes, restaurants, shops and attractions.

The old town is pedestrianised so easy to get around and there is direct access to the sea shore from L'Origine. You can walk all round Collioure bay and it is also possible to do so in a wheelchair.

The apartment has level access throughout and is suitable for use by able bodied people and those with a disability. A separate upstairs apartment is also available should you wish for extended family or friends to accompany you on your holiday

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Pyrenees-Orientales region

Collioure is a delightful, unspoilt fishing village steeped in history, dating back to the middle ages. Situated on the Cote Vermeille/Vermilion Coast of Languedoc Roussillon, Collioure is just 20 minutes from the Spanish border. Having 320 days of sunshine a year, you couldn't choose a better holiday destination.

For those who like walking there are some glorious walks and if you plan your route carefully you can take in some delightful watering holes as well as stunning views. History is all around you with chateaux to visit as well as artist trails throughout the town and further afield or the more hedonistic visitor may prefer trips to local wine producers or regional restaurants to sample the many fish and seafood menus or other gourmet delights.

Collioure old town is pedestrianised and easy to get around in a wheelchair. You can also get right down to the shore in a chair.

Plane
There are numerous flights to/from the area. Here are the driving times to various airports from Collioure.

Perpignan – 45 minutes
Carcassone – 2 hours
Girona in Northern Spain – 1½ hours

Take a train
It is possible to travel by train, see www.raileurope.co.uk for full details. (A train journey from St.Pancras to Lille and Lille to Perpignan takes an estimated 10-12 hours.)

Taxi
A Perpignan taxi company called A2R (Tel: (0033) 046 8640800) can provide taxis for disabled travellers. The company operates every day and can provide minibuses with ramps. It would be wise to book ahead to prevent delay.

Take a car
Several autoroute options depending how long you want to take. Allow 12 - 14 hours, plus stops from Calais. Motorways all the way to Perpignan with dual carriageway to Collioure, useful route planner at www.rac.co.uk or www.viamichelin.com

Guestbook for L'Origine

My week at L’Origine was wonderful. I would really recommend the apartment. The owner is tetraplegic so the apartment is designed for wheelchair users and even the tiniest of details has been covered. The bathrooms are both large wheel-in showers with wheel under washbasins, there is plenty of room to move around and use a shower chair, the same goes for the whole apartment really. These little touches really made the stay a lot smoother and made for a very enjoyable holiday.

The apartment is well equipped with full air conditioning and central heating and the outdoor area is great we had lots of long, warm holiday evening barbeques and sunshine breakfasts! The town, only a couple of minutes walk away is a heaven for shoppers and ice cream lovers and twice a week there is a market, which brings the locals out to enjoy the town. Being Catalan country, there are many local restaurants and bars in which to enjoy lunch, dinner a few drinks overlooking the village beach.

I would recommend the apartment to anyone and with the apartment above its ideal for large parties or two families holidaying together. For wheelchair users it is a completely hassle free holiday apart from the having to leave!!!
