Cottage / 2 bedrooms / sleeps 6
Our charming traditional air conditioned fisherman's cottage is at the top of Rue du Soleil, one of Collioure's prettiest streets, at the bottom of the street is the beautiful picturesque bay of Collioure and plage Port d'Avall. Turn left and you have a bakery and turn right a small supermarket with lovely fresh produce and everything you could need, a little further down the street you will find a cafe, a Charcuterie, wine shop, Chemist etc., if you need more cash you will find an ATM cleverly hidden in a round tower beside the antique carousel across from Rue du Soleil.
The cottage is spread over 4 floors with 3 sets of stairs, the top floor has an ensuite wc and washbasin and a large family bedroom with a double bed and a set of bunks. The next floor there is a sitting room with French windows on to a Juliette balcony, a comfy double sofa bed and a small bunk room with ensuite wc and washbasin. On the 2nd floor is the pretty fitted kitchen with French windows to another small balcony and a dining area which seats 6 with ease. The ground floor consists of a spacious hall with separate wc and large bathroom with spa shower and a large bath. The facilities include new silent air conditioning on both sleeping floors,a washing machine, tumble drier, microwave, gas hob and small oven in the kitchen.
Collioure can be reached easily by train from all major European cities and is 20 mins drive from the E7 autoroute from Barcelona to Lyon and beyond. We prefer to have a car with us for exploring the beautiful region but also have enjoyed the hassle free train option too. The house is 10 mins walk from the train station but you can also drive to Rue du Soleil for luggage to be dropped which is rare enough in the old part of town but there will be no traffic passing your door as it is situated on a' sans issue ' section and so safe for children to play while you get the lunch etc.!

"Tastefully decorated and fully equipped"
There is no need to say anything more about the interior of the holiday home. The house is in a "Rue sans issue" so that children can play outdoors. Beach, sightseeing, supermarket and public transport are within walking distance. The owner is very friendly and helpful. This holiday home is highly recommended!

"Great accomodation in a great location made our holiday special."
Before we arrived Derry had provide us with very useful and friendly information on the house and location. When we arrive we were met by Madeleine who introduced us to the house and the town of Collioure. Within the hour we were settled in and exploring the houses many cupboards which contained everything you could possibly need for your stay from needle and thread to snorkel and flippers. The Rue Du Soleil is a quiet place with no passing traffic, although you can park to unload when you arrive. It is a great place to sit in the evening and enjoy a glass of local wine as the sun goes down. The house is half way up a gentle slope about 3 minutes from the shore and local shops, with the main restaurant and shopping area a 5 minute walk around the Royal castle with the sea on the other side. The restaurants offer a range of local dishes and of course seafood ranging in price from 15€ to 50€ for a 3 course meal with local wines from 18 - 30€ a bottle. Individual main courses range from 9€ up with platters of seafood and a bottle of local wine a special treat. Ice creams which my children tried a different flavour at least twice a day is 2.5€ a scoop and very good and sadly missed now we are home. There is a market twice a week on Sunday and Wednesday which is well worth a visit. There is nothing negative I can say about the house or the location, we are considering booking again for next year, the only thing I would say is parking can be an issue, but if you purchase a weekly parking permit for 30€ (this has to be cash) from the office in the castle royal car park you can park in any of the main (5) car parks and you are given an over-ride pass which let's you bypass the queues and park even if the car park signs says full. I could go on but will finish by saying the house helped make this holiday with its quirky layout and amazing well stocked for your every need. I would strongly recommend this house and location for families and couples wanting a great holiday.
