Les Perdrix, Collioure D'Amont
About the home
Our comfortable and very well equipped house is in an excellent location for a memorable family holiday in the south of France. We have tastefully furnished the house and the separate kitchen has a full range of appliances and cookery equipment and opens directly onto one of the patios. The site has its own secure swimming pool and the extensive grounds include a full size tennis court. We have provided guests with a range of games equipment and outside furniture.
The scenery around Collioure and its beaches is stunning and if you have a car, which we recommend, there are numerous interesting and varied excursions to enjoy, from water parks, canyoning, horse riding and golf to incredible mountain top castles and hidden monasteries.
The traditional French markets are always enjoyable. Sea trips, hill walks and of course relaxing on the beaches of the Med', are all a short walk from the house. The area is famous for artists and art shops abound in the village. Seafront restaurants serve fresh sea food and the area is blessed with its numerous local wines from the vineyards which carpet the surrounding hills.
For us, the area is as near to bliss as you can get!

Generally our approach has been to ensure everything is provided that we ourselves would hope for on such a holiday.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Pyrenees-Orientales region
Fantastic hill walking, superb fish restaurants, fascinating historical interests, a haven for artists and of course the beaches of the Med'. Collioure is at the heart of French Catalonia and an excellent location for an enjoyable family holiday.
The Collioure / Collioure D'Amont area
Collioure is at the heart of French Catalonia and is only 30 minutes from the Spanish border. The area boasts more hours of sunshine than any other part of the French Mediterranean. Often described as the jewel of the Cote Vermeille The area with its proximiy to the Pyrennes and Albere mountains has fantastic walking opportunities which can be started directly from our house. These can provide a range of moderate to challenging routes, but all giving fantastic views and memorable days out.
The are numerous excellent restaurants in Collioure and most have specialist fish dishes which naturally abound in the area.
The 4 local beaches at Collioure are a mix of sand and pebbles and there are long sandy stretches of beach just along the coast at Argeles. A fun way of travelling to Argeles is by the numerous pleasure boats which ply up and down the coast in peak season.
Collioure is a haven for artists and has has notable historical links with Matisse, Derain (Fauvism movement), Dufy, Charles Renne Mackintosh and Dali. the Dali museum is less than an hours drive just over the Spanish border. There are modern art museums at Collioure and Ceret which has notable links with Picasso. At Banyuls, about 7km along the coast is the museum of Malliol the French sculptor.
Collioure was the home for over 40 years of the historical nautical writer Patrick O'Brien
The house is part of a small development in the "Spanish style" and is just a 15 minute stroll down the river bank path to the heart of the town.Collioure D'Amont has a private shared swimming pool for residents which includes a shallow infants pool. Loungers are available for guests There is a full size tennis court, gardens with an area to play boules and table tennis - equipment for both are in the house for the use of guests. Parking is a significant challenge in Collioure in peak season but our guests have the benefit of the use of a garage and parking bays for visitors can also be used on site when available.

| Nearest Travel Links | |
| Airport: | Perpignan (and Gerona 100km): 30 km |
| Railway: | Collioure (and Perpignan (national) - 20km): 1.5 km |
You can travel to Collioure by road, rail or air. The nearest airports are Perpignan (25kms) and Gerona (100kms)
FLYING
Flights from the UK to Perpignan are with Ryanair from Stansted or with Flybe from Birmingham, Manchester or Southampton The latter usually only fly during the summer between May and September.
You can also fly with Ryanair to Girona, Spain from several UK airports and flights to here are generally daily. From here you can hire a car and drive the 100km to Collioure which takes about 80 minutes. We nearly always go via Girona and most frequently use Avis or Hertz car hire. Their prices include insurance to travel to France which can be typically around 8 euros a day with other companies so watch for hidden costs in quoted prices. However, there are often great deals out of high season so its always worth checking options each time.. Ryanair also have deals with Hertz linked to your booking.
You can also travel from Girona airport to Perpignan on the excellent Frogbus.com. From there you can catch the local train or bus from Perpignan station to Collioure. The local bus is just 1 euro. and takes around an hour whilst the train is around 15 euros and takes 20 mins. The house is around 20 minutes walk from the station so if you have a lot of luggage a taxi is advisable. A taxi direct from Perpignan airport will be about 80 euros. A taxi from Girona is expensive if not booked in advance.
RAIL
You can travel all the way from the UK by train, euorail via Paris to Perpignan. Typically this can take around 12 hours depending on where you start from in the UK.
CAR
Driving the whole way from the UK via ferry is often undertaken by UK property owners and sometimes holidaymakers. It is a long but fairly easy drive down motorways and we would recommend shared driving or an overnight break in your journey if you decide to do this.
In our view fly-dirve is the best option for a short holiday break as it gives maximum control and flexibility, is the quickest door to door option and of course enables you to travel widely whilst on your holidays.
Detailed directions and map of the house location in Collioure will be made available on receipt of a confirmed booking.
