The Languedoc-Roussillon / Pyrenees-Orientales region
Languedoc-Roussillon is the southern -most region of mainland France. Collioure is located in the southern-most Department of Pyrénées-Orientales which roughly corresponds with the old Catalonian region of Region.
There is still a strong vibrant Catalan culture in the area, evident in its cuisine, dance, and teaching of Catalan language in local schools.
The Collioure area
Beautiful medieval seaside village. 5 beaches within the village and has a lovely market which is on twice-weekly, on Wednesdays and on a Sunday mornings.
Locally you will be able to visit art-galleries and there are several options for nightly entertainment. The property situated at the foot of the Pyrénées just 20km to Spain's Costa Brava and Cadaquès and has 320 days sunshine a year. There is an easy access by road, rail or air and there are plenty of sport-activities to play. There are music and theatrical festivals to go and watch and the whole region is covered with Roman architecture.

We stayed for 10 days in this little fisherman's house in the heart of the old town in Collioures. The house is charming and well equipped and has the most lovely views from the roof terrace. Although the location was quiet , we were literally just minutes from restaurants and bars, and we could nip out across two streets to the square where there is an open air food market twice a week. The owner was most hospitable and more than willing to assist with good tips and suggestions about things to do. Collioures itself is a gem with little beaches and crystal clear water. it's just about 10 minutes walk into the foothills and vineyards and the costal buses just cost 1 euro. |

We rented this appartment for twelve days, my husband, daughter (10 mths) and I. We had a great stay. The appartment is very charming, clean and has everything you need. We liked the short distances to everything, and found our street the most charming in Collioure :) There are long, narrow stairs, so it is not recommendable for children who can`t walk the stairs. |
