The Languedoc-Roussillon / Pyrenees-Orientales region

The gem of the Catalonian coast, Collioure is encased in a small rock bay, with the Alberes Mountains practically pushing her into the sea. Collioure has managed to escape any of the real estate development that has devoured the coast of Roussillon down to Argeles-sur-Mer, six miles away. The town has kept much of its unique medieval character. The Royal Castle separates the bay and is surrounded on one side with cafes, shops and art galleries. Caught between the bay and the sea stands the church, adjacent to the ancient lighthouse that now serves as a bell tower. The rose dome atop the tower is the trademark of romantic Collioure.
The Collioure area
Collioure is located in a wonderful area. 2 Hrs from the spanish border it enjoys 320 days of sunshine per year! Working out from Collioure there is an endless range of places to visit from Perpignan, to Carcassone, through to Barcelona. You will not be dissappointed. Hi Conor
Must be telepathy, as I was going to email you this week-end to say how
much we enjoyed our stay in Collioure and is Les Orangers!
The apartment itself more than met our expectations, and it's location
within a few minutes walk of everything from shops to beaches to
restaurants to train station to bus stop in Collioure was equally
fantastic. Collioure town itself is beautiful and a great base, and despite
the unseasonable weather for much of the 2 weeks of our stay it did not
dilute our thorough enjoyment of our holiday.
In fact, I was so impressed by Les Orangers that I looked on Tripadvisor on
our return with a view to posting a 5* review, but the option to post a
review on the apartment on Tripadvisor was not available. So please take
this email as testimony of our high praise for Les Orangers, and I would
certainlly recommend it highly to anyone thinking of holidaying in that
part of France.

Hi Conor
We had a lovely time in Collioure and the weather was very kind to us.We explored a lot of the area and found your advise on places to go and eat very helpful. Also the directions were good as we found the apartment very easily(even with me navigating)
THe apartment itself was great-well equiped, plenty of space and clean and the position was good as it was nice to be in the middle of everything as we live in the country here.We have a lot of friends over here who like Collioure so we will certainly recommend your apartment.
Best Regards

Just a quick note to thank you for the use of the apartment. We had a
fantastic time. The weather was great and Collioure was, as ever,
beautiful. - we loved the welcome basket (and fizz!) - a really nice
touch as we arrived quite late. The flat is equipped really well so
there is plenty to do whatever the weather!!
You've a winning formula from our perspective!
Thanks again
Matthew
Lovely appartment, keeps all promises

Review Submitted: August 6, 2010 Date of Stay: July 2010
We stayed for two weeks in the appartment in July 2010 and found it to be excellent in all ways: lovely bedrooms and living, well-equipped kitchen, nice bathrooms. Spacy and sunny, with a calm and private feeling but still very close to the centre of Collioure (really just 5 mins). Correct in all ways, including being perfectly clean and very nicely decorated. Would recommend this to all families, with children older than toddlers, and excellent for families with teenagers. Extra: all modern DVD/Wii/Playstation provided, lovely welcoming basket. Landlord a real gentleman. Many many thanks!

The apartment is about 500 metres from one of 3 town beaches, 2 minutes from the boulanger and a small supermarket and less than 5 minutes from any number of restaurants and cafes. In short it has everything you need for a wonderful holiday. Being August it was very busy but the apartment comes with private parking which is a bonus for anyone that decides to take the car. This said, with Perpigan a short distance away and Beziers perhaps an hour away (and a train station), there is no real need to take a car. The owner of the property is very friendly and helpful and the apartment is spotlessly clean. We were given a local number to call in case of need. Although it is in the heart of the town it is very quiet with no noticeable road or people noise because it is set back about 50 metres off the road. Even the trains pass pretty much silently by about 200 metres away. The apartment is fitted and furnished to a very high standard and is as comfortable as home. There was a bottle of milk in the fridge on arrival and useful things in the cupboards (not forgetting the other essentials like a bottle of wine). It was more like borrowing a house from a friend than renting a holiday appartment which is exactly what we were looking for. The owner and guests maintain a "whats on" guide and there is plenty to do in Collioure and the surrounding area for those that want more than a beach. We had a day out to Salvador Dali's house at Port Ligatt which is roughly a 1.5 hour drive away and could have spent more time exploring.

Hi Conor
We had a wonderful time in Collioure and were very sorry to leave. What a beautiful little town!
The apartment was everything we expected and more. I have never been to such a well equipped holiday apartment! The welcome basket was most welcome (especially the wine after a long drive). The information you sent prior to the holiday was very helpful, just one comment you need to update the shutter info! You've obviously had new ones! The furnishings are very tasteful and the suite very comfortable. It was lovely to put your feet up after a long day sightseeing! We were thrilled with it all. Can I also complement you on your instrutions to the apartment. It could be quite difficult to find but we went straight there. One thing is for sure, we will be back (if you'll have us!)
Cheers
Jenny

Hi Conor,
We had a wonderful week in Collioure. The apartment was perfect and we were really delighted with our stay. It was spotlessly clean and so bright and airy. It had everything we needed and was so comfortable. We were blessed with idyllic weather (high twenties and clear blue skies). The girls (13 and 16) were delighted with the WI and the great array of DVDs - after a day spent out and about they were happy to relax in the apartment in the evenings while Liam and I visited the local restaurants. Your guide to the restaurants was really helpful and we had some great meals out.
The only complaint of the week was the DVD box for 'The Boy in the Stripped Pyjamas' was empty!
The apartment is ideally located and I hope we'll mange to revisit again.
Thanks for everything,
Maeve Corish

Hello Conor,
We have had a simply marvellous holiday in Collioure, what a gem of a place!, it is easy to see why it is so popular, it is quite unique and although it would be easy to stay put the entire time we did get around, Ceret, Ille sur Tet (Orgues), Villefranche (Yellow train to Latour de Carol), St Laurant, Cadaque, Roses. The weather was brilliant, almost too hot for us on the last few days (however it has been just as hot here at home today!) with just 1 wet day and that was the day my sister and husband arrived!
The apartment was everything we had hoped for and much more!, we all thought it was brilliant and so close to the centre of things, being able to just stroll into the town at any time was a great pleasure, and having a secure parking spot was a big plus - we certainly chose the right one!
Absolutely no minusses at all about the apartment, walking into it each time was a real pleasure and it is so well equipped with everything we could think of and more!
This will not be our last time in Collioure, or, we hope in Les Orangers and we thank you for all your help with advice and directions.
Many thanks again,
Best regards,
Peter

Conor
Just a quick email to thank you for all your help in making sure our holiday in Collioure went smoothly.
Your apartment was ideal both in location and its nature and we had an excellent holiday all round.
Just for future info in case you have any guests wuth teenagers, Argeles Adventure has a tree top climbing park and a canyoning centre which were great entertainment for the two days of not so good weather - the canyoning in particular is especially intimidating - it certainly scared me
Other than that we were all very taken with Collioure itself and hopefully will return very soon
Regards
John
Hi Conor,
Yes we had a fantastic time thanks. The apartment was great, both in terms of location and the quality of the apartment/contents, you seemed to have thought of all the 'wee' things that people might need and provided them!
We would have no hesitation in recommending your apartment to friends and would definitely want to rent it again if we go back to that region. Many thanks for checking everything was OK for us.
Kind regards
Liz
Hi Conor,
We have just returned from Begur,Catalunya a remarkable town on the quieter part of the Costa Brava and have to tell you that we had a absolute ball in Collioure. We can definitely see why our friends keep going back. The apartment was as expected first rate both in location and all the comforts. We'll definitely be going back to Collioure and will look you up again in the future. Thanks again for all the tips/info. It really helped give us a wonderful break.
Best wishes,
John and Noleen McAteer Aug 08
Hi Conor
We were absolutley delighted with the apartment - the quality of furniture, the bedding and towels and kitchen equipment were all very good. The position in the town was brilliant and we were very pleased to see the wet fish shop from the balcony on the first evening we arrived!
All the very best to you.
Paul

Simply magnificent, we had a wonderful time in Les Orangers. The apartment is everything you said it would be, bright, airy, spacious and extremely well fitted out. As for Collioure itself, it left us speechless. The four children loved it. We had a tremendous holiday.
Thank you,

"It is situated down a quiet street out of the hustle and bustle of Collioure, but only a very short walk away. The apartment is very well appointed, roomy and has every thing you could want to make your stay a true home from home"

We really loved Collioure and plan to go back again next summer. Your apartment was great especially when we had the two lads with us when we welcomed the space. It is in a very convenient position for the town. The recommendaton of the Neptune for my 50th was spot on; it was great for a birthday meal.
You have been extremely helpful.
Thanks very much.

Just a quick few lines to let you know that we had a great holiday! We were very comfortable in your apartment. It was everything you described it as in your details. Second week the sun didn't shine too much, but it wasn't cold. Had some lovely meals, our favourite was Le Parc, on the way down to the beach. We did get to La Neptune, and although we enjoyed our meal very much, we still preferred Le Parc. So thats one for you to try.
Regards,
Linda.
