Colle di Val d'Elsa area
The town of Colle val d'Elsa, dating back to before the 13th Century, is split into two parts: Colle Alta, the old part built on top of the hill and Colle Bassa, the newer half at the bottom.
Colle Alta has preserved its medieval aspect and remains of its fortifications. The Duomo, Acheological Museum and the Bishops Palace which houses a small religious art collection. The Palazzo Campana which forms the main entrance to the old town.
Colle Bassa is a centre for crystal production, with factories selling goods direct to the public.
