The Essex region
East Anglia is known as the area of 'big skies', partly due to it's reputation for being very flat, but anyone who has visited this corner of the region will know that the undulating fields which lead down to the river valleys have a real charm. The beaches of Essex and the Suffolk heritage coast are exceptional is their beauty and diversity. The charming Essex and Suffolk villages are steeped in history and old world charm, with somewhere different to explore every day.
The area around the River Colne estuary is known for it's exceptional beauty and wildlife. Waters Reach looks over the river and has a private access directly to the sea wall, where the estuary birds and sunsets can be seen at first hand. Fingrinhoe wildlife reserve is located on the other side of the river and the nearby town of Wivenhoe, boasts friendly pubs and numerous restaurants. The National cycle trail is minutes from the property and numerous beaches are a short drive away. The well-known Constable country of Suffolk, made famous by the painter John Constable is within a 15minute drive. London is just 1hour by train from Wivenhoe station where all the famous sights can be found.

"Fantastic week at Water's Reach"
We had a fantastic time in this lovely house. We found it surpassed our expectations! The location of the house down the hill and through the field to the water was phenomenal and we enjoyed the calm, the view, the birdwatching and the proximity to Wivenhoe. Highly recommended.

"Beautiful rural/coastal stay"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is very spacious in the living areas and we easily hosted Christmas lunch for 10. The views are stunning and we took a frosty walk into Wivenhoe for a great pub dinner. Sian was very welcoming and a delight to deal with. It was lovely and warm all the time and we lit the fire each evening for a toasty atmosphere.

"Wonderful place to stay"
Waters Reach was a wonderful place for us to stay, with lovely views. It very peaceful and relaxed, but just a short stroll from Wivenhoe. The house is really cosy and warm, and really well furnished. The owners were also extremely kind and helpful throughout our stay.

"Beautiful accommodation in a stunning location."
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Waters Reach. The accommodation is extremely comfortable and the views are truly stunning. Sian and her husband were very welcoming and helpful. The house has been very well thought out and has everything that you would need for a great stay. It is ideal for a family get together and also not very far away from the station at Wivenhoe should you need to travel to London or elsewhere.

Delighted to have found Waters Reach was even better than the photographs and descriptions suggested. We spent a wonderful week end. Excellent accommodation, friendly and helpful hosts and amazing views from every window. A truly lovely peaceful place to stay. The cottage is comfortable, spotless, very well planned and equipped - wish we could have stayed for longer.

Waters Reach is more beautiful than the photo's show. It is very comfortable and well fitted out with lovely comfortable beds and luxurious linen. We needed somewhere to stay to visit family and in fact the family visited us as it was so comfortable. Ideal for older and younger members of our group with a lovely meadow for the children to play in, wonderful views and really interesting walks along the sea wall. We cannot say anything bad about this property and would go back there tomorrow if we had the chance. The bathroom is large and ideal for anyone with any disability as there is not only a bath, but also a wet room. There is also a lovely en-suite with the main bedroom.

"Fantastic Accommodation in a wonderful setting"
We had a wonderful week at the very beginning of September. Sian couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Waters Reach is absolutely lovely, and is a testament to the love and care that has been put into converting the accommodation for self catering holidays. It was a great base to explore a part of the country that we didn't know well and we had some great days out at Beth Chatto's Garden, RHS Hyde Hall and Orford Ness (NT). We highly recommend this as a perfect place for a peaceful holiday which is within striking distance of lots of interesting things to do.

Since I would be a visiting lecturer at the University of Essex from June-September, my family and I had been looking for a place to stay around Colchester for this period. After 8 months of searching without success, we came across this newly converted holiday home. Waters Reach immediately appealed to us and it was close to the university (5 minute drive, 10 minute bus ride). We were very happy (and lucky!) that it was still available for this long stay. When we arrived, all our expectations were exceeded. The holiday home itself is simply gorgeous. It is decorated with eye for detail, very spacious and fully equipped (even when you are staying for a longer duration). It is also very child-friendly: thanks to the fact that Waters Reach only has a single storey and because of the well-fenced deck, our 2.5 year-old son had the time of his life. And the outside? The views are truly breathtaking! We loved just sitting on the beautiful deck and relaxing. Even though I worked almost all of the time, coming back to Water’s Reach at night always felt a little like going on a holiday. We had several friends and family over and they all agreed: this is the most beautiful holiday home we ever saw. Waters Reach is also located perfectly: a walk away from the very cosy Wivenhoe (with several good restaurants and pubs), close to the supermarket (Tesco) and Colchester. We also visited Brightlingsea very often in the weekends (lots of fun with small children). Within the close surroundings there is so much to do and see (both for families with children and for couples). The owners, Sian and Jonathan, made us feel very welcome and were always there to help and give advice about places to see, where to eat, etc. We’ve been back home for a few weeks now, but we can’t wait to return to Waters Reach. We will never forget the amazing time we spent here!

"Absolutely Fantastic-exceeded expectations by a country mile-WOW."
Waters Reach was a fabulous property, so well equipped, peaceful and in a stunning location. We are cyclists and managed to cycle 350 miles on great lanes from the front door of Waters Reach; we had some good lunches in pubs and cafes and the food options in Wivenhoe suit all tastes. As we visited at lambing time we were able to feed a few lambs too. The birdlife and wildlife is happening all around you at Waters Reach and you cannt help but love such a wonderful location. The hosts could not have been more helpful and we would thoroughly recommend Waters Reach as a suberb destination for couples or familes with taste!
