The Old Thatched Cottage is full of character which dates back, in part, to 1740. It is beamed throughout with beautiful polished wooden floors and yet it possesses all the creature comforts of living in today's world. Despite it's name, the property is no longer thatched, but it has not lost any of its charm and country feel.
There is a large well equipped kitchen for self-catering including an electric range, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, toaster and kettle.
There is a spacious dining room with seating for 6 people, a large lounge with cosy chairs plus a snug area which incorporates the TV with wonderful views through the French doors into the garden.
The bathroom comprises a large corner bath with power shower, hand basin and wc. There is also a heated towel rail and storage unit.
There are 3 bedrooms, one double, one twin and one single.
The Willows is a spacious two bedroom cottage is situated in grounds of ½ an acre and incorporates a large sitting room with a dining area, TV and radio/CD player with patio doors opening on to the garden. There is a double bedroom and one twin both with fitted wardrobes. The bathroom has a power shower, toilet, basin and heated towel rail. The kitchen has lovely views across the open countryside and has everything you need for a self catering holiday including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and toaster.

The Willows is situated in grounds of 1/2 an acre. Visitors are welcome to visit the resident chickens and to enjoy the vast and varied wildlife which visits the garden throughout the year.
There is off road parking and an outdoor seating area perfect for relaxing at the end of the day.

Price includes all heating, lighting, bedlinen, tea towels and hand towels for the duration of your stay for up to 4 people. (Please note: bath towels are not provided).
The property is all on one level which is idea for the elderly but please note that it is not equipped for disabled visitors.
Change over is Saturday. Arrival: Saturday from 3pm. Departure: Saturday before 11.00am.

Booking Conditions
Please contact us to confirm availability. A deposit of 50% of the full booking fee will secure your booking for the agreed dates. The full cost must be paid within 6 weeks of the start of your holiday. Payment to be made by bank transfer.
Cancellations
Should you have to cancel your booking more than 6 weeks before the start of your holiday, your deposit will be refunded in full minus any bank charges payable. If you need to cancel within 6 weeks of the start of your holiday neither the deposit nor any final balance will be refunded.
The South East England / Essex region


The property provides a great base for exploring pretty villages such as Lavenham, Finchingfield, Long Melford and Woodbridge. Being in the heart of Constable Country gives accessibility to the many country walks at Flatford Mill, Dedham and Manningtree.
The property allows easy access to A12, A14, and A120 which links to local resorts such as Clacton-on-sea, Frinton and Walton-on-Naze. Resorts such as Great Yarmouth and Southend are only an hours drive away.
Colchester train station is only around 10 minutes away giving access to London which takes 50 minutes into London Liverpool Street.
The Colchester / Langham area
Colchester is Britain's oldest recorded town attracting more than 4.5m visitors every year. It is a thriving, modern town with many great visitor attractions, including the wonderful Colchester zoo.
Whatever your interests, East Anglia is a wonderful place to spend your holiday exploring nearby countryside for a 'breath of fresh air' including the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Mersea Island where you can enjoy local oysters. Colchester is a great place for shopping providing not only the usual household names, but small specialist shops where you can find many unusual treasures.
Colchester Zoo is a great favourite and a visit to Colchester Castle should be on any visitors list. There is horse riding, fishing and golf facilities in the area and plenty of country pubs and fine restaurants to suit all tastes.
Langham has a general store/post office and a public house called the Shepherd and Dog. The property is approx. ½ mile (10 min walk) from the Crown pub/restaurant.
There is a Shell petrol station close by plus a Tesco Extra store just a short drive away.

The property is ideally situated on the Essex/Suffolk border and only 2 miles West of Dedham in the heart of Constable Country.
Langham is only 3½ miles from Colchester town centre famous for its Roman history and world-renowned zoo. The A12 which bypasses Dedham to the West is the main East Coast route providing a link between Colchester and London to the South and the East coast at Woodbridge and Great Yarmouth to the North.
It also provides access to the A120 at Ardleigh, to the South of Dedham, offering an Easterly route to the Port of Harwich and, in a Westerly direction, access to Stansted Airport.

We had a great time and recommend Colchester Zoo to the old and young alike. My grand daughter absolutely loved it. The cottage was much bigger then we expected and very clean and comfortable. We hope to return.

We have had such a good time and have managed to visit so many places, inluding Colchester Zoo and shopped to we dropped in Colchester town. We even managed to get up to Southwold and Great Yarmouth.
