The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
Coín is one of the most up and coming villages on the Costa del Sol. Though it dates back to the Roman era, it is essentially an Arabic town.Situated in the Valle del Guadalhorce, at the foot of the northern face of the Sierra de Mijas and overlooked by the Sierra de Alpujata in the province of Malaga. Villages nearby are; Monda, Ojen, Alhaurin el Grande, Cartama and Alhaurin de la Torre.
The town contains a number of places and features of interest to the tourist thanks to its geographic location at the foot of the sierras which make up the coastal range. Spots of immense beauty to be found here include the forests of Alpujata, La Fuente, El Charco del Infierno and La Albuquera. Coin, a place that is expanding fast and is becoming a place of residence for many foreigners.
Coin is located about 30 minutes drive from the airport of Malaga and 30 minutes from Marbella. The 30 minute Town. It is steeped in history with roots established well before the Roman occupation. The Roman town of Italica was constructed with marble from quarries in Coín which at this time was named ‘Lacibis’. When the Visigoths rules the Iberian Peninsula, it appears Coin became deserted.
Coin / Miralmonte area
Miralmonte is a private urbanisation situated between Coin and Alhaurin El Grande on the A404. The villa is situated within 30 minutes of many places of interest, the beaches of Marbella and Fuengerola, the lakes of Ardales and El Chorro, the waterparks of Mijas and Torromolinos. Nearby golf courses include Alhaurin El Grande and Mijas. The local towns, Coin and Alhaurin El Grande cater very well for the large ex pat population, with many local shops and bars run by Brits with an abundance of services and entertainment.
Coin has a multi screen cinema with at least one top film showing weekly in English, along with ten pin bowling and various shops and restaurants all situated in the commercial centre La Trocha. Coin also has two very good riding stables with regular mountain treks. Now to the coast! with all you would expect from the Mediterranean, clear blue waters and all the normal beach activities including boat trips. I'm sure you'll agree that our villa ticks all the right boxes.
