The Andalucia region

COIN is located about 30 minutes drive from Fuengirola and 20 minutes from Mijas.

Coín also houses and important ceramics factory, located on the main road from Fuengirola and a working film studio that was once the set for the TV series‘El dorado’. The studio is located on the outskirts of Coín, alongside the main highway to Marbella. The studio is also used as a hotel and restaurant

The centre of Coín has a wonderful plaza where the old Town Hall is located and local residents sit and while away the hours.

The new Town Hall is located in another new plaza with an underground car park, fountains, gardens and several fine bars.

The small, narrow streets are lined with family owned shops. A new commercial centre, ‘La Trocha’ has been built on the outskirts of town.

It is located on the road to Cartama and contains numerous department stores including Dunnes, various food outlets including Burger King and a multi-screen cinema.

The traditional tourist infrastructure along the coast is ideal for the practice of water sports, such as sailing, wind-surfing, water skiing and diving in the waters of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean.

The numerous pleasurecraft harbours and diving centres are proof of this.

Coin

Finca La Palmera is accessible via a half a Kilometre dirt track.

It is secluded but not isolated and is in an ideal location to experience the Real Spain an area peppered with traditional Spanish restaurants (Ventas) amid breathtaking mountain views. There is plenty to see and do in this area. The drive to the historic town of Ronda is one not to be missed and the famous Alhambra Palace in Granada is an interesting 2 hour drive. The glitz of Puerto Banus and the shopping or beaches in Marbella are a 30-mins drive.

"Exceeded expectations, wonderfully Spanish, remote but with all amenities nearby, gorgeous finca!"

Although I live on the Costa del Sol albeit in an apartment I was looking for some Spanish countryside that would be suitable for my dogs and I for a late summer break. Finca La Palmera exceeded all my expectations, it was set in beautiful Spanish countryside yet close to all amenities, the interior of the finca was welcoming, clean, and despite the rural setting, full of all modern amenities. The jacuzzi was amazing, set amongst tropical plants with a bar and seating area surrounding. The outside pool and bbq area totally private and tranquil, the gardens were full of walnut trees, fig trees (of which I sampled and can recommend wholeheartedly). I also had the pleasure of meeting the owners of the property, an absolutely lovely couple who also provided an amazing welcome pack of food, drink and condiments. There are a couple of typically Spanish bars within walking distance, one actually run by a South American was particularly welcoming and extremely reasonable for both food and drink. A short taxi ride away is a busier area with a number of good restaurants covering all types of cusine. A delightful, relaxing holiday which both I and my dogs thoroughly enjoyed.

"A quiet, comfortable, spacious retreat and a home away from home."

You do need a local map and car if you are not familiar with the area and you want to get out and about. The owners leave plenty of information on La Finca and the surrounding area. The welcome pack is amazing and the owners also leave lots of additions, eg condiments, washing powders, etc. It is a lovely place to stay and you have plenty of room if there is a large group of you.

"Beautiful house and garden with loads of space, charm and character"

This is a lovely house in a quiet, rural location which was exactly what we were looking for. Great restaurants and quaint town within easy 5 minute car ride. Villa extremely big and comfortable and so homely - it is geared for people to just get together at one of the large tables outside or inside and is large enough to get away from each other should you need some space. The outside area is really lovely with great pool and a brilliant barbeque and plenty of secluded space to lie and enjoy the sun. Our family loved everything about our holiday and can't wait to go back again soon. The owners, Rosemary and John are hospitable, friendly and I loved meeting and chatting to them

"Fits all sizes - teens, young couples & the more mature............"

Had the great honour & pleasure of staying at John & Rosemary's home for a good portion of June 2012 - and were very reluctant to pack up and leave. We were made to feel welcome from the very first email response we received and the warmth of this couple was palpable even then. We were not disappointed on arrival and the totally "laid back" atmosphere of the magnificent Finca and it's surrounds certainly enveloped us from the moment our feet touched the ground - what a place! We were a mixed group of teens, twenty somethings & more mature - and the place satisified all. Ok might opt for a car with a little more clearance on the undercarraige next time (or get some of the occupants to drop a few kilo!) as the laneway down does have rather a hump - but easily negoiated by dumping passangers at top & letting them walk down (<200 metres!). Everything one might require (bank, groceries etc) short walk (1/2 hour or so - depending on how hot) - everything else (beach, mountains) short drive away (Marbella/Fuengirola) 1/2 hour by car on decent roads - tons of local weekly markets easily accessible by car - we managed to get around quite a bit Ronda/Granada etc - but if chillaxing is your thing just stock up, kick back & you'll not need to head out again until you're heading back down the road to Malaga - but if cooking/bbq-ing not your thing there are some marvellous places to eat in close driving proximity - best kept secret this place and I'm already regretting writing this review because the secret's out now! (Sorry just carried on to the next section and in the "would you recommend this property" portion it's difficult - what defines "older" - and the families with young children - I certainly would have taken my children there when they were younger however when younger my children were extremely closely supervised and never in the vicinity of open pools without floatation (arm bands/back floats) devices attached - as you can gather from the array of photographs the pool is set unrestricted within the garden - so I guess the choice would be up to parents and the degree of responsibility they wished to employ)

The driveway to the property has now been graded to eliminate bumps and humps so is suitable to all vehicles.
