The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast region
Ancient University city of Coimbra only 15KM. Roman Ruins & Mosaics at Conimbriga only 20KM. The Palace of Bucaco with its beautiful walks among ancient trees from all over the world is the site of one of Wellington's bloodiest battles. There is a Military Museum in the grounds. 14 KM. Luso an old Spa Town with its old buildings is worth a visit. Luso water is bottled and distributed all over Portugal. 15KM. There are many river beaches in this area and kayaks can be hired by the day on the River Mondego. 6KM.

Vila Nova de Poiares sits between two mountain ranges. Amid lovely scenery and forests of pine and eucalyptus. Traditional markets throughout the week at surrounding local towns. Ideal Hiking /Rambling Countryside. Ten pin bowling. Go-Kart Track. Many local bar / restaurants. . Supermarket 1KM.
