Restored cottage in gardens of local Manor house dating from early 19th century set in 25 acres of countryside in the foothills of the Serra da Lousa at Pereiro de Baixo. 1KM from the small market town of Vila Nova de Poiares and 15KM east of the ancient university city of Coimbra. Beautiful river beaches nearby for swimmimg and kayak rental and sandy coastal beaches approx 45min drive. A special place to re-charge your batteries whether it is swimming in the pool, reading a book on the sun deck, walking in the pine forests or eating al fresco under the vines. The choice is yours. We still make our own wine...try some in our Adega. The traditionally furnished cottage boasts large living / dining room, tiled floors, wood burning stove and fitted kitchen. Ground floor WC. Patio doors to terrace and garden. Upstairs has one double bedded room, one twin bedded room and bathroom / toilet. Private entrance from quiet country lane.

The Palace of Bucaco with its beautiful walks among ancient trees from all over the world is the site of one of Wellington's bloodiest battles. There is a Military Museum in the grounds. 14 KM.
Luso an old Spa Town with its old buildings is worth a visit. Luso water is bottled and distributed all over Portugal. 15KM.
There are many river beaches in this area and kayaks can be hired by the day on the River Mondego. 6KM.
The Coimbra / Vila Nova de Poiares area
Vila Nova de Poiares sits between two mountain ranges. Amid lovely scenery and forests of pine and eucalyptus.
